Any particular reason for searching for a brindle? They're hard to find; it's so rare that they occur naturally in the breed, most of the responsible breeders I've known have never even seen a brindle pup come out of most lines.

Could you PM me her pedigree info when you get her ABCA papers? I truly am curious about her lineage.

I don't really know why I got a brindle. I guess I wanted something different. :] I've always been the odd ball out in school and such. It sort of suits me I guess.

Yes, I will PM you her pedigree when I get the papers in the mail. I think that the brindle lines trace back to Don ISDS 73710. I could be thinking of the wrong dog.

That's why I gave up on a roan american cocker actually. I didn't realize how hard it would be to find a good breeder with a nice roan dog, let alone the odds of a litter containing roans from that dog.. It's possible, if you are willing to wait years, but even then it's not guaranteed the litter will throw roan.

Nice dogs , but I have to admit I'm partial to the true BC in color .! I'm surprised that the breeder didn't have the full pedigree in her " going home " folder !! Guess I was too proud of my lines . Have fun with them !

Grammy, there actually isn't a "true" BC color - anything goes in this breed. :) Some traditional farmers prefer black and whites because they think the sheep respond differently to reds, merles, predominately white dogs, etc. but a Border Collie is a Border Collie regardless of color. My personal favorites are black and whites and tricolors, but I think they're all nice looking animals.

I, too, would've expected the breeder to send home at least a copy of the parents' pedigree for you to have until the ABCA papers arrive.

All your dogs are beautiful. I've never heard of or seen a brindle BC. I've always wanted a BC and seeing all the pics of the BC's on this forum makes me want one even more. In my life, i will own one.

Very beautiful dogs!

When I brought my pup home, I had a bag with the breeders kennel name on it, and inside was a binder. That binder was great - had full pedigree, paperwork to nominate her for futurity, a copy of the contract, a copy of all the relevant health testing and such, a copy of the sire's ZTP (ok, that at least is in german and i cannot read it), and 20-something odd pages on dogs from the pedigree, and a bunch of pictures of the dam. I also have copies of all the puppy pictures since the day they were born up until the day they all went home :) Of course, I have the best pictures, which are of me holding her at day 3 :)

The binder was AWESOME, I know that another really responsible breeder that is on this board does a similar thing as well (also in dobes) - maybe we are just lucky in the dobe breed to have such great breeders :)

No doberkim, I would say that most responsible breeders of ANY breed are proud of their accomplishment and put together all the information the future pup owner would/will need/want.

Strange that this pup didn't come with more..........but maybe there are other circumstances involved.

Like Grace said, pretty much any color is exceptable in this breed, as long as the dog is able to work like farmer/rancher/ect needs.

Do you have plans for the pup, herding, agility, ect?

Kim, I think any breeder in any breed should compile such information for puppy owners. Along with pedigree info, pictures of Eve's relatives and their trial records, every picture ever taken of her up to 8 weeks of age and a box FULL of books on training stockdogs, I even got a DVD of my pup's relatives, all working livestock. I thought that was so cool.

Elise, just out of curiosity, do you plan on spaying Zii?
