I have a 7 month old Bichon. I've been noticing (for the past 2 or so months) that when he looks straight on at me, his eyes are fine. When he has his head turned and looks at me, his eyes (both, depending on which direction his head is turned) will twitch and rotate out toward his ears...to about 1/2 his pupil. Kinda creepy looking, actually!!!! :(

I'm curious if this is a common dog problem or a common Bichon problem, or do I have a defective puppy??? The store I purchased him from guarantees this puppy for 1 year so if this is a 'defect' and can be treated, they will pay for it.

More importantly, though, since he is now a big part of the family, I worry about his long term eyesight!!!

Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance!!!

:( Sorry...I meant to right the other day and forgot after I returned from lunch. I looked on line and it looks like Bichon's have a wide range of genetic eye dissorders. I would recommend that you take your dog to the vet or a K9 opthamologist who know a ton about our k9 eyeballs!!

I have a bichon..a lazy bichon..
you should go to a vet or something..
or you mean if he looks at you, his eyes color changes..?
because if you mean by that, everydog has an eye like that..
But i think everyone knows that around here - -x

Ya, if he looks directly at you, and is focused, eyes are fine...MOST of the time. If he is not directly in front of you and looks at you, or something else not directly in front of him, his eyes randomly dart toward the outside of his head...kinda creepy. Doesn't appear to affect him in any way. Just curious about this.

showpug: Any particular Bichon site you 'researched' on????
