We trial at Spot on and K9klubhouse.. Both are half an hour away.. Lot of work to trial further, at best we'd be able to go for one day or the other.. It was nice to have been able to go somewhere new though. We are used to snow fencing, or bright deer fencing.. So there's a real border..

I was looking at Acton trials maybe next year. I thought about trying CPE for the h*ll of it. I figured regionals would be years away for us.. but I'll see how we run in spring. If we're together and 'on' I'll consider it. You ran regionals this past year didn't you?

Yeah, i guess travelling too far to trials can be a bit of a pain.
Farthest I've gone was regionals (london this year) - and, well we sucked! - LOL. It was stiffling out, and I partially blame the weather as my little girlie isn't a fan of extreme heat, or being woke up early to run around (she's a bit of a princess - hehe).
You should definately try out CPE - lots of fun, very laid back and relaxed. Acton is the only one around that holds the CPE that i know of. :)
I'm running both AAC and CPE right now. Acton holds some in the summer with CPE in the morning or afternoon, and the other half of the day is AAC.

Absolute Agility near Kingston (north west of Kingston) holds many CPE trials.
Jennifer also has AAC trials. Nice location, well off the road, fully fenced and quiet. Good place for novice dogs without to many distractions.
She also holds CPE clinics for people to understand the rules and regs for the different CPE classes, especially the games.

That's good to know. I read the CPE rule book a few weeks ago. There's a few games I just do not get, lol.

I've done three CPE trials, and some of the classes, I still have to have explained to me! They are pretty different, but the courses tend to be pretty simple, and it is a very relaxed group of people. I prefer USDAA, but do both.

Laura;
Although for the most part CPE is easier, especially with the no refusals rule.
I know the general opinion is that CPE is too easy and would be a step down when competing, especially for those who are already competing and at the higher levels of AAC/USDAA etc.
I had an interesting chat about the benefits of CPE, this person (who has a very very high Q rate in Masters) said that when competing in CPE they try things that they normally wouldn't do in AAC. Therefore improving their handling skills and their dogs performance...........interesting I just may have to try that sometime!

I've been 'down' on CPE.. Figured it was a step backwards.. More so now cause we are in advanced everything but standard.. and now are in master jumpers... So most of our refusals count..

When I was at Royackers I had a chat with a lady I know from trials closer to home about it. She runs her dog who is slightly too young for AAC in CPE.. and has her masters AAC dogs use CPE to practice too. One of which has an iffy start line stay. It's one of the things she works on in CPE where it matters less to her. Cheaper runs where they 'train' things they wouldn't just like the person you were talking to does as well I guess.

I had never thought of it like that. I saw it more as ribbon/title mongering. As I saw it as a step backwards.. But I would consider it as practice the way it was described to me.. Especially now that refusals count for pretty much everything.. we could also use more ring time with distractions where it matters less..
