First, this months edition of the Whole Dog Journal has listed WDJ's top approved Wet dog food and on the list there is Triumph dog food...I always avoided this food in my order book before just assuming it was poor quality. I have never seen the ingredients...tried surfing the net to find the ingredients but being on dial up its more like going upstream in a fast current surf:) I live in the Country and cannot get high speed...which really sucks. Anyway, what are the ingredients on the Triumph canned food...is it really good quality or is WDJ making some really bad choices on dog food they consider to be good. Also, I know that just because a canned food may be good, the kibble
is not nescessarily good...is that the case for Triumph. It does state in WDJ to avoid the Gourment cuts line of Triuph. I'm just curious as Triumph canned is so inexpensive and I wouldn't mind rotating canned food with this one. I go between Nature's Vaiety, Canidae, Evolve, Natura canned...different protein sources all the time. My dog do very well on the variety.

Next question, are Triumph and Evolve the same company? I do get Evolve canned for rotation purpose and it seems to have good ingredients.

Next question:) I have been on/off giving my dogs alfalfa for arthritis etc. I do know that alfalfa contains vitamin K...in my foods I feed they contain Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (I know that is a horrible ingredient...but, my Rottie & older Newf cannot handle Canidae...and I can't afford to buy Natura all the time)...even the Canidae already has Alfalfa in it. I was giving additonal alfalfa for medicinal purposes...but, now I wonder if I'm over doing it...?:)

yes, triumph, evolve and hi-tor are all made by the same company, triumph pet industries. you can view the ingredients of the canned food here:
http://www.triumphpet.com/dogs/triumph-cans/adult-guidelines.html

it's decent canned food, the mineral supplements aren't particularly great, but it has a good meat content and no ingredients that would raise any red flags. the evolve line is higher quality tho.

as for the alfalfa - it's a harmless thing to give, but too much is really just a waste of product and money. one teaspoon of alfalfa powder per 25-30 pounds of body weight is plenty. :)

Thank you Mordy, I am going to view that site. I am definately going to order a case of canned Triumph...just for rotation and cheapness:) It will now be part of my canned rotation.

Thanks for the info on Alfalfa. My Sister gets huge amounts for her horses, so I just swipe a cup here and there and give tothe dogs...I don't give them a cup, just about a tablespoon full of the pellets.

I just had these awful images of all that Vitamin K thinning their blood out so much that they would bleed to death if ever they nicked themselves. I have a wild imagination..haha

You always come through for us;) Seriously though, I thought the WDJ was really slipping...there have been a few foods I was a little surprised made the list.
