I drove down the rainy, windy roads this morning seeing all the debree and the branches still falling from the many tree's around my area, but right down the street I saw something I hadn't expected at all! Only a few houses down a tree fell straight through a house! I was shocked to say the least!! I knew the wind was really strong and was actually worried about our tree's falling, but still it was a big shock to see all the damage! I just hope no one was seriously hurt because it went straight through their roof! On the way home (7 pm my time) they had just started using a chainsaw and cutting it up. I haven't watched the news yet, but I'm sure it will be on there.

Also thanks to the winds there are a lot of people without power and some without heat. I'm glad I have power! :)

Whoa! That's freaky...glad you're okay, bb! Be safe! :D

We have a bunch of really thin weak trees in our back yard. Seriously, it looks like a forest. And when the wind blows (our wind is probably not as strong as yours, tho) it's really scary. I should take a vid of it some time.

LOL Keyodie we have alot of trees to but they are massive pine trees 12 of them in a row, so if mother nature really wanted to get pissy I would be cutting up pines for the rest of my life.

I am glad to hear it wasnt your house that was smashed but still the same it is sad to see that destruction.

I live in SW Louisiana and my hometown was hit very hard by Hurricane Rita this past Sept. When I got home and saw the huge uprooted trees (Thank God my house wasn't hit by one) it was such a shock...It looked like a war zone. There was a strong smell of fresh cut lumber in the air because of all the broken trees. Everyone was in such a state of shock. It's like you have no idea what to do. We were without power and water for over two weeks and literally depended on the National Guard for food and bottled water...My heart really went out to the people who had the trees go through their roofs. No one was hurt because of a manditory evacuation but they came home to such devastation. There were tent communities set up in the Wal Mart parking lot where people actually lived while their homes were repaired and the people who's homes were still standing took in everyone that they could. I thank God that I live in a small community with the kind of people we have here. As bad as the situation was, there was no crime, no looting, no fear of other people. As badly as everyone was affected by this storm...mentally, financially, etc. it really renewed my faith in people. I saw some wonderful acts of kindness and unselfishness. They say what doesn't kill you will make you stronger and these were just words until I actually began to live them. I know I've begun to appreciate a lot of things that I've taken for granted over the years. I've lived in La. for 46 years and lived through many many hurricanes and storms, but nothing could compare to this last hurricane. It felt like the end of the world. (Sorry, I didn't mean to start rambling here, but it just reminded me of how small you can feel when such a powerful force as mother nature decides to strike! I'm glad you are ok!)

Went to Stuttgart last fall for a training seminar and a tornado warning was issued. It went right over the hotel because I look outside and the hotel sign was gone as well as the Western Sizzlin' sign next door, and the large tree that was infront of the hotel was split and it was in the driveway of the hotel. Thank goodness I parked my truck under the safety of the concrete garage. And no one was hurt. It was an interesting night, after it went through I went back upstairs to check on my room, and it was intact, had me a beer and went to bed, LOL. I'll tell more about that weekend later.
