I drove from ID to NM with a friend and 6 dogs. Then I drove from NM back to WA with my 2 dogs. It was fun. Just me and the dogs and time! My dogs were great and just slept while driving or sat and looked out the window. I stopped and let the potty etc. when I would stop for gas or to potty myself. Unless they were telling me they had to go, then I would make a stop for them!
I frequently travel with 2-3 dogs by myself. I potty them both together and always keep one with me at rest areas for a deterrance. Having a GSD with you deters the creeps normally. But any dog of any size, puts creepy people off normally. I am not going to lie, some rest areas can be sketchy and I NEVER stop at them at dusk or after. But I am a big scaredy cat!
