Hello everyone,
I was hoping to get some advice...I am traveling with my 5 year old lab later in the week by car, the drive is approximately 13 hours. The longest she has traveled by car in the past is a couple of hours. She has never been car sick, however I do notice she has becomes somewhat stressed towards the end of those trips (panting, whining etc). Does anyone have any ideas on either meds (perhaps gravol?) or natural remedies to help with this? Thanks in advance!

Some vets will have you give them a Benedryl which helps some. I would also stop often to take your lab for a walk even if it's just to get some fresh air.

I agree with Barb, stopping and letting your dog out for a walk and potty time is important on a long trip.

If mine start getting restless or whining in the car it is because they need to use the bathroom.

If you think the stress is not due need to pee or other determinable cause. You could try a DAP collar. These are very effective in calming some dogs.

If you don't know what they are follow the link on the home page of the site in the signature for more information.

You can find many stress relief and calming aids out there that are perfectly safe for dogs..in fact a lot of them you can find at Petco or somewhere like that..
