Extreme DA- don't have to be dog park dogs, but I'd like to avoid crate and rotate.
Drooling
Professional grooming- no patience for that honestly.
wrinkly breeds- I know this is shallow by I don't think I could clean out wrinkles, lol. Maybe it just sounds worse than it is, I dunno.
Independence- I like a dog that at least care somewhat what you think lol.
Low energy breeds- just not gonna fit in I don't think.

Same here but really sometimes its not that easy, Ive tried ignoring it with scirocco, rewarding quiet, not letting him in until he stops, and it doesnt work (its only when hes locked somewhere away from everyone.)
I guess I should clarify.... I don't mean demanding to be with you when they're away from you, though that's annoying too, but it's more of an anxiety-related behavior. And I don't mean excitement barking, like when you have a toy and they can't wait for you to throw it so they're running around barking. I mean like if they're standing there in front of you and you're not doing what they want and they bark at you, clearly telling you to give them the treat, or throw the ball, or whatever. The dogs are clearly being demanding, pushy, bossy, etc.

I take care of my friend's dogs sometimes, and when it comes time to feed them they bark at me to put their food bowls down. I always stand and wait for them to stop barking before putting down their bowls, but sometimes it can literally take 5 minutes... of constant barking in my face. The owner finds it annoying too, he complains about how pushy the dogs are, and he KNOWS what to do about it.... yet the dogs are still horrible so I'm sure he doesn't practice, at least not consistently.

Oh and I should add I'm the opposite. I LOVE busy dogs. Sweet you would not like my house, it's a madhouse with all five of them around. Actually it's a madhouse with just Mia around. If she's awake, she's up and going and getting into some sort of trouble. Never a dull moment.

Drooling. Can't stand drooling. When I see drooly dogs at the park all I can think is "OMG don't come up to me!" because I don't want their slobber rubbed all over me. And then when they shake and it flies everywhere.... would not want that all over my house!

Otherwise I think I'm tolerate of most things. Juno and Lucy are like complete opposites and so they alone cover a few different things. Snoring, burping, farting vs. ladylike lol. Active vs. lazy. Outgoing, "OMG I LOVE YOU" vs. DR, shy/fearful? No SA vs. SA (not bad--just the constant howling when alone). No grooming vs. professional grooming.

From what I've experienced so far the most annoying thing is that Lucy is dog reactive. I just can't bring her many places, she's fantastic off-leash but I can't bring her with me and Juno because I never know when another dog might come up to us. Sooo I suppose I prefer dogs that enjoy other dogs. And I absolutely could not handle any aggression towards people.

Just to add, for temperament:

Extreme shyness
Submissive urination
Hyperactivity with no 'off switch'

Other than that, I'm pretty tolerant ...

Oh, I forgot about submissive urination :p although I think a BIG male dog excitement pee is way worse. Especially when they roll over on their back mid-pee :lol-sign: what a mess! No thanks, don't want any of hat here!

I think I'd like your dogs just fine, because they're YOUR dogs. :D

as well as dachshunds (back problems), and other breeds with similar problems.

:thumbsupsmileyanim:

Just teasing :p Yeah, you have to be careful with doxies, but they aren't total whimps. Sometimes people get the idea that they have to be babied and carried around everywhere.

My Dad is very active and LOVES his two doxies. He takes them on 2-3 mile walks daily... And takes them out camping (like, really camping) with him. They hike and fish with him and swim with him. And they're good with it.

My Lexi is probably the best dog. No, I'm not biased :p She's just so... obedient and always has been. She's friendly but loyal. Man I just love that dog! (she's the one swimming with the stick above)

Sorry! I didn't mean to make this in a "OMG I love my dog! sqee!" thread :p But, I do... :p She's pretty awesome.

But yeah, drooling is a huge no no. As well as shedding and submissive peeing. My friend has a husky and when I take her to the vet she leaves hair all over my car. It drives me crazy! She's coming to house sit while we're at the beach in April, and I told her Sakari (husky) cannot sleep on any beds. The couch is okay, because it's leather :)

Excessive barking/whining etc.
Heavy shedding
Over the top energy. I love an energetic, intense, drivey dog...but they need to have an off switch.
Low energy and low drive
Aloofness
Overly soft dogs

I can deal with most of these if I had to, but would not want to live with:

- Overly submissive behaviour
- Really soft or really hard temperaments (I do best with a nice, inbetween balance)
- Shyness (I adore Dance, but her shyness really gets in the way of a lot)
- Severe Dog Aggression
- An insanely high energy dog (I like a high energy, active dog but it needs to have an off switch)
- Drooly dogs
- Overly demanding dogs (this is pretty easy to overcome with training)
- Really pishy, in your face sort of dogs
- Lazy dogs (I like a relaxed house dog, but one who is up and ready to go at your indication)
- An over-the-top "everyone's my best friend" attitude (I like friendly of course, but be well-mannered about it)
- Excessive barking
- A dog with no desire to work or train
- A dog with zero desire at all to please
- Scruffy coats, or "non-shedding" coats that need a lot of maintenance
- Anything brachycephalic
- Really aloof behaviour (I like my velcro dogs, or at least a dog who enjoys being with it's family)

Wow... that's a really long list of things I don't like, lol. I'm really, really picky when it comes to dogs that I plan on living with. If it's somebody else's dog though, I really don't care what traits it has. I'll still like it just as long as it's not living with me.

Drool (sorry Ozzy)
The 'I love everyoneness' (I don't mind it I just don't want a dog taht will blow me off to go say Hi)
I love to have a thinking dog (sorry Ozzy and Taz)
Brachycephalic
HA (I can live with DA or DR)
Hairless
I need an active dog with a good off switch so lazy (again ozzy) doesn't work well for me
A lot of grooming
Howling creeps me out so I can't have hounds
Never able to let a dog off leash (I know that's mainly a training issue but again hounds that can be on a scent and forget you exist)
Submissive peeing
Extremely shy dogs
Extreme SA
Not handler orientated (Taz isn't and for me that makes him extremely difficult to train)
Constant sniffing, I like my dogs to be focusing on ME not having a sniff (at least until I tell them to)

Wow that is a long list!! I guess that rules out a lot of dogs for me LOL .

you know those dogs you see when you go to someone's house that are big and slobbery and hairy and ALWAYS jump all over you, are constantly in the way wagging their entire bodies, and trying to drop slimey tennis balls in your lap every time you sit down?

any traits that those dogs have, i don't want.

that being said i cannot handle severe separation anxiety (mostly because i've never dealt with it), unpredictable human aggression, excessive and uncontrollable barking/jumping, or complete noncompliance. i realize this list may sound odd coming from someone with hounds...

I really dislike a dog who is always walking around the house, in perpetual motion, always needing to do SOMETHING.
Middie's like that a lot of the time, though, and you love him. :p

I can't deal with excessive shedding. A lab or a husky, for instance, would make me want to kill either myself or the dog. I just hate dog hair. I keep a sheet over my bedding to protect it from Middie's fur and drool, and I groom him regularly and vacuum constantly. I hate it. But he's worth it, so I deal with it. I could never have a dog with MORE hair, though.

I also can't deal with tiny dogs (nothing against them in particular, but they just look so breakable), humping, or aggressive behavior towards me.

Drooling, unlike most people apparently, I deal with just fine. :D

Aloofness with owners, I like my dogs to be really devoted to me/velcro dogs.
I also would have massive trouble having a dog that loved strangers, I like my dogs to be reserved with strangers.
Excessive barking.

i really don't have a long list of things i couldn't handle.

excessive barking
SA
HA
lack of drive/desire to work

most other things (shyness, softness, DA, reactiveness, over-the-topness) i find myself able to work with. steve is not at all what i wanted in a dog. he's very soft, he's shy, he is 16 months old and still tinkles when certain people greet him, he's super grovelling submissive, he's very reactive. but i've learned how to work with him, and he's improved a lot in a lot of areas.

I could and have dealt with a number of things, including HA, DA, excessive barking, drooling, snoring. Not the most fun, but I can and have lived with them.

short nosed breeds
Extreme shyness (no time to work on it)
HA (I would never tolerate that, especially with baby in the house)
no off button (I LIKE my dogs that sometimes are just fine with sitting in the house all day napping and just getting petted if I can't physically go out and exercise them)
really, really, really clingy & demanding dogs (don't want to have to be touching the dog 24/7, but I DO like 'velcro dogs' just not needy/demanding. I do think there's a difference.)
dogs that high pitch wine & bark that never shut up

-Brachycephalic breeds (pugs, bull dogs, ect) Want a breed I can do alot with.
-dog breeds known for dog aggresion. ("pitbulls", mastiffs ect)
-Over the top excitied to met a new person. I HATE that the most. (Goldens, labs..)

Anything else Im open to. Drooling doesnt bother me, Blaze drools alot, he has the jowels of a mastiff lol, He sheds, LONG (8+inch hair) hair, He barks, he is aloof with strangers, He is high energy.

So if I can deal with him. then not much will bother me lol

Brachycephalic dogs also.

High shedding/high grooming needs. (exception: Poodle clipping)

Over-the-top energy. (use to like it, don't have it anymore myself. lol) (I'm lovin' my laid back, undemanding, companion dogs, the Chis.)

Dogs with the wander-lust. (I like a dog that wants to stay close to me that can do off leash hikes without wanting to run off. ie: hounds. I do like a dog that's really into his owner. ie: Doberman, Chihuahua)

Dogs prone to dog aggressiveness (been there, done that) or extreme aloofnessness toward people. (a little reserved is fine)

Separation anxiety or extreme insecurity. (If it's in their temperament, very difficult. If it's environmentally caused where that can be trained out, tolerable)

I'm not mentioning traits that are primarily caused by improper training or handling because they're a moot point. Those things don't have to be, for the most part. I'm talking about traits or propensities common in some breeds of dogs and some individuals that are inherent or part of their temperament or physical characteristics. I guess excessive barking is common in a lot of toy breeds, Chihuahuas, for instance. Everyone says what yappers they are. But I managed to teach mine to stop on cue and they're relaxed, comfortable dogs.
