My teacher just messaged me telling me that he is getting a rough collie puppy for his family!! I'm really darn excited for him.
I was about to mention the thing about BYB and the important of finding a reputable breeder, but he sounds pretty settled on somebody from Redding, CA. I haven't asked for the breeder's website/contact yet, so no idea if it's a good or a bad one.
So that aside... he hasn't raised/trained a puppy before. I think it's critical to have stuff for him to read up on before the collie puppy arrives, but I literally learned my dog knowledge straight from EVERYWHERE and over time. I don't have exact resources.
Please post any online training/socialization links, articles, books, or any other recommendations I could send over to him? I was thinking first thing at least to register for Petsmart puppy classes, since it's basic of the basics.
ETA: The breeder is Aspen Collies, in California. Looks like she doesn't health test all of her dogs, just some... But in any case, any resources for training is still needed.
