Okay, as you may know i have a puppy that needs traing. I have three choices.
1. local trainer( like a person whos can train your dog)
2.aspca's puppy clases
3.petsmat traing

Which do you guys think is more resonable. But the farthest one from my house is the aspca. And gas prices are high.soo reply with suggestions.

#1 by far.

I have taken Petsmart's Basic and Advanced Classes. Recently I started going to a private trainer for agility classes. And there is a HUGE difference between the two. You have a lot more space using a private trainer, you get more one-on-one training, and they usually know a LOT more than the wimpy 8 week course you take to being a "certified trainer for Petsmart".

What's the local trainers qualifications? Training techniques (ie. positive, correction, ect)?

I would look into and observe a class from the local trainer first ;) There are a lot of things *I*, personally, would consider before enrolling my dog into a class. At least you have a back ups :p

ya. But I have been looking around and the only 2 local ones that wouldn't take over an hour to get to, are single ones where I drop the dog off 4 a month then pick him up and he's trained. I honestly would not feel comfortable doing that, especially because I have never heard of these trainers before.I think im going to lok more into the petsmart, Its just i have friends who said its better than the aspca, cause there traing styles change exc.

I think they were assuming the local trainer would work with you and your dog; not keep him and train him for you.

I think it's better for you to work with him yourself than have someone else train him for you. It would be very difficult to have him gone that long too!!
