I was pretty puzzled when I found this out but my 7 year old Toy Poodle has milk in her! We do not own any other small male dogs that could get her pregnant. Besides that she stopped coming into heat along time ago. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but (not knowing) we bought her from a puppy mill along time ago. I squeased all of her teats, and everyone has milk in it. She was never spayed and did mate with a black miniature poodle but never had puppies, so there was no reason to get her spayed. I was just curious to know what this is exactly. How could a dog this old and not even pregnant have milk in her? It's the craziest thing. Hope I'll get some answers...Thanks

Hello,
That is strange i don't know why. Did you go to the vet? IS her stomach any bigger then it usually is? Is there any males shes been in contact with? If so she might be pragnant! Thats odd to be pragnat at 7 years old though.

If she were pregnant she probably wouldn't be lactating until she was far enough along to tell, but you never know. It could be a false pregnancy, or it could be something going wrong. You probably won't feel safe until you've checked with the vet.

my guess would be false pregnancy. it can be very subdued in some bitches and almost as intensive as the real thing in others.

my (intact) dachshund ***** who never had puppies started producing milk 3 days after i brought home an orphaned kitten and nursed it for several weeks.

be aware that this can increase the risk for health problems like pyometra and cancer of the reproductive organs, so you should look into having her spayed.
