Still searching for a companion. I recently visited the shelter of my choice, and came across a gaggle of toy/miniature poodles. Their owner passed away :( and left the three little ones with no where to go. There was Windy, 13 year old who was deaf, Raggedy Ann, 9 years old who was blind in one eye, and Shiver, 4-6 years old. They were the sweetest little angels, jumping all over me. I immediately bonded with Shiver; he was glued to my lap. Literally whenever I would place him on the floor next to me he'd wait for me to pat on my thigh and he'd jump back on. I'd feel guilty only taking one, but I don't know if I can afford taking on three new dogs now, financially or mentally.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has experience with poodles could give me their imput. I own a poodle mix, but I feel she has more cocker spaniel tendencies. Are poodles one person dogs? Velcro like? Or was is it just that particular poodle? I'd appreciate any poodle information, or anyone who adopted a needy dog.

Thank you for your time. And Happy Thanksgiving!

I have 3 and they are all very much velco like dogs. One is more then the others. Shiver sounds like a sweetie! I'm also a groomer and most poodles that come in have such a sweet and at the same time (especially with males) goofy personality. They bond well with everyone and know how to make me feel like I'm the best person in the world in there eyes.

Hope all goes well. If you adopt him, make sure to post pictures. :)

We recently had a thread on here about splitting up a "bonded pair" (or group) of dogs: http://www.chazhound.com/forums/t124157/. I think the general concensus was that the dogs usually do fine even if they're split up.

Personally, I've never met a poodle I didn't like. :) I'll probably get one one day (most likely a standard), I think they're great and Shiver sounds like a fun little guy. :)

Thank you. I actually just read that article. The way I have to think about it to remain guiltfree is that they are lovely little dogs who will all get homes. And its better to take one home than none.:)

I have a Standard Poodle and my mother has a Toy Poodle. They are one person velcro dogs but they are friendly to everyone. My mom's Poodle follows her everywhere but when she's not available she sticks to me lol.

My grandparents had a poodle once, when I was growing up, I was pretty young so I don't remember him TOO well... but he was a great little dog. Miniature poodle, white, named Max. He was soo funny, but very well behaved. Wouldn't mind having one of my own, to be honest. They seem like a good breed for a first time dog owner, given they are prepared for the grooming and care. I'd sure like to try some creative grooming on one! :p

We have a toy Poodle, adopted at 3 years of age. She likes everyone, and is pretty velcro like. She's a delightful little dog:)

Oh! How neat! You got yourself a Poodle that needed a home. I'm very happy for you. I'm sure the other two will find homes soon. I never owned a Poodle, but I've been very interested in the breed for a long time and am constantly having bouts of Poodleitis, which you haven't helped one bit, miind you.:p Your little Shiver sounds delightful and I'm sure you'll both spend a lot of good time together.:)

Hope you post lots of pictures!
