I recently noticed that my 1 1/2 year old wheaten terrier was limping when I was walking him today. When we got home I tried to look at his paws and he wouldn't let me. He just kept licking it. When he fell asleep I took a look and noticed that the big pad on his front right foot was missing the top layer of skin. It look like it was scraped off. There is still another layer of pad underneath but i'm assuming it is very tender. His other ones seem to be tender as well but are not torn or anything. Could this be from walking him while the pavement is hot? He loves to go for walks and goes on 3 or 4 a day between the 4 of us. Ranging anywhere from 10 to 45 minutes. Should we not walk him as much? Is there anything we can do to stop the pain in his paws?

Well, obviously you shouldnt walk him as much. The less he walks the faster it will heal.

you can buy Neosporin with pain relief and apply it on the spot. Dont let him lick it exesivelly.

Daisy does a lot of damage to her pads pretty regularily. It might be a little dog thing.
But we usually just leave her and she fixes herself up, tough little dog.

This morning he wouldn't even get out of his bed so we brought him to the vet. He gave us some pain killers and coated the paws. He thought it also might be a broken toe but found out afterwards it wasn't. I turns out it was when he was running around the edge of the pool yesterday. My sister let him out while we weren't home and let him stay there for a little to long.

Just like my customer's dog!
Your house must be tile, or wood. Many dogs have torn paw, living in a home like that.
But torn paw doesn't hurt much for dogs. there's much more kin even inside the torn paw.
No worries!
But if you're really worries still, get a carpet floor :)It's hard to change the floor only because of torn paw. It can't get worse. It's OK
