Its actually more of an issue with finding an apartment. Most of the nice buildings around here impose a 25 pound limit on dogs which would make it very difficult for me to find a place to live with a dog bigger than that.

There are so many dog runs and parks around here that exercise isnt a problem just an issue of where to live.
I know ALL about that! LOL. I have that same problem on the island, which is why I've decided that until I buy my own home, I can only have small breed dogs. What I find funny, is that if you had like 5 dogs around 5-10lbs, it'd be easier to get an apartment than if you had 1 dog around 60-80lbs.

on to my list....

For the immediate future, the only dogs I would consider are:

1. Cardigan Welsh Corgi
2/3. Sheltie/Pap

Once I have my own house:

1. COLLIES!!!!!!!!

after that... I don't know.... I love LOTS of dogs.

Also why I'm thinking next may be sheltie instead of BC. Knowing me though, a pap isn't out of the question ever.

Same same same! It took nearly a year of searching to find a building, let alone landlord, that would let me have Pit (AND Zero). Thankfully my building had just been built and there was no strata at the time and therefore no limitations. Certainly helped that the landlord didn't care at all about our dogs.

Wouldn't let limitations get in the way of getting what you want. Anything's possible. Just saying! :D

Honestly? The only dogs I will ever own will be shelter mutts. Maybe I'll accidentally find a purebred that way, but I'd never go seeking one out. This is a total cop-out, but I'd never pick a dog (or dismiss one) based on breed. I want personality to rule which pet I bring home.

My only stipulation is I don't like small dogs who I might step on, and I never want to deal with drool, so the big droolers are out (sorry mastiffs and st. bernards and the like--you're fun from a distance, but not when you put your face in my lap!)

Well back before I met my husband, the three breeds I NEVER wanted to own were a Dachshund, Lab and a Sibe. :)

I can honestly say that I don't think I would ever own any of those breeds again on purpose, but I think that Jeremy will be allowed to get a Dachshund when Noodle in getting up in the years.

My next dog WILL be a Doberman.

I don't really have breeds that I really like past Dobes :) I think every other dog we own (besides the Dober boy and future Doxie) will be a shelter dog. Except for the Dobe after that, and that, and that :)

We pretty much end up with whatever dog feels right, that's how we ended up with Ruby and Allie. I will say, though, that I will TRY and get dogs that have little to no shedding. After Ruby and Allie, I am completely sick of hair everywhere.

Great Dane
APBT
Doberman Pinscher
Cane Corso
Patterdale Terrier
Boerboel
Neo Mastiff
Bullmastiff
American Bulldog
Rottie

3 breeds/types that I wouldn't own:

Long haired breeds- just call me lazy, I prefer short-haired breeds.
Boxers- as Toller08 pointed out, they just seem to have a different type of energy that I am not really fond of. Just my opinion of course.
Hounds- Love my girl, but their aloof personalities ect. are jusst not for me.

I of course, love all dogs though, and appreciate certain qualities in them all. I would never turn down a dog that needed a home based on it's beed alone.

1. Boston Terrier
2. French Bulldog
3. APBT
4. American Staffordshire Terrier
5. Boxer
6. Staffordshire Bull Terrier
8. Doberman
9. Rottweiler
10. Newfoundland

There aren't any breeds that I wouldn't want to own. There are a few that probably wouldn't work in my lifestyle though which is sad because I think they are beautiful breeds.

1. Husky--big exercise demand
2. Border Collie--need a job to do
If you think a husky is high strung, then you should live with a pittie for a while. LOL. I had a husky show up in my back yard, and he was tame compared to reggin. Now, It probably has somewhat to do with how the dog was bred and etc, but pitties are generally quite hyper as well. ;)

Would own:
1. Bull Terrier
2. Toller
3. I have run out of ideas. :D

Wouldn't own:
1. APBT - not because I don't think they're awesome (because I do!) but I travel a lot and they are banned from so many countries.
2. Weimaraner - they are goooorgeous, but working at an animal hospital I've come to learn that they can be VERY high strung and get stressed very easily.
3. Lab - at least not a puppy/juvenile. They are 70 pounds of CRAZY for the first few years. They're brains just don't catch up with their bodies for so much longer than a lot of other breeds. I can't imagine a 5 year puppyhood.

If I ever got another toy breed, other than chihuahuas, it would be a toy poodle. My aunt had a black female named Binky and she was only 4 pounds and had a litter of puppies. Yikes. Very sweet dog, like chihuahuas are.
