This is a HIGH KILL POUND that does not allow the general public to adopt the dogs. Rescues with a MO license and 501(c)3 rescue listing are the only ones allowed to pull...please CROSSPOST!! There are many MO rescues who will partner with another rescue in order to get these dogs out.

if the general public is not allowed to adopt..why? Unless it is because they are puppymill general. I don't understand. THey look desperate in the photos.:(
Do i read right that some are held for only 4 days?

I don't understand why only rescues can get a dog out of there. This makes no sense.

Smkie, our animal control only has to hold a pet for 3 days and then can euthanize.

I imagine these are all pulled from puppy mills or PM auctions. Rescue groups are better prepared to spend the 1000's of dollars it will take to get former PM dogs vetted and into foster homes for socialization, their first walks in grass and on leashes.

If not then humane euthanasia is still better then a life in a PM.

Nope, these are strays. A few even have collars still. There is something very bizarre about the pound and a couple of the rescues down in that area.

I know when i drive to the doc i pass puppy mill after puppy mill. It just has me in the worst mood by the time i arrive. But it is strange to be a high kill and not outsize to the general public. The dogs look totally miserable too.

That place puzzles many rescue groups as well, because they are so hard to pull dogs from. It doesn't make sense and nobody's talking.
