There's another Toller owner as well, I believe the s/n is skki (erm, something like that :p) and the Toller's name is Pit.

When they first came out I was very interested as I liked their looks . Since then I've heard too many stories about their energy levels . I was hoping that they had more Golden attributes bred into them .

i like the fact that they arn't like goldens at all.('cept they retrieve) When i got her, i wanted a retriever, but something that isn't like a golden. Something that could keep up with me...lol.(i have a golden as well, thats how i know i don't like the breed in general)

Working Pics:

i'll put up some conformation/other pics a little bit later.

and her full show name is:

UKC Ch. Cedar Fog's Red Tornado RN CGC

Owned/Trained/Handled by me. Bred by and my mentor in the breed, Betsy Fogg.

She is out of the billie/taz litter born 6/4/2006.

I'm sorry that you've had a bad Golden experience . It hurts me deeply that through bad breeding their true temperment and looks have gone south .

I love tollers. Between seeing the pics of Daphne, Felix, and Dance... they're gorgeous dogs. Probably one of the only retrievers I'd look into. They're really neat dogs.

Grammy, she doesn't necassarily have a BYB golden. Maybe she just doesn't like the temperment.

I think goldens are alright, but I wouldn't particularly go and get one. Their temperment just doesn't suit me.

To each their own . I wasn't saying it was bad breeding ..... they just aren't the breed I started out with 60 years ago . That's why I went rescue with Ollie . I knew that what I saw , was what he was . MOSTLY Golden of yore , but with a lot of " stuff " added to the package !! Keeps me on my toes !

Laurelin - i LOVE felix and i think i know dance from bekki's forum. :)

And he isn't from a back yard breeder...i don't think? we got him when i was 7. He never really liked to work, horrible hips, and extremely gunshy. I like his temperment twords kids and can only dream of having tollers that good someday. it's just...mentally, he's great; physically, he's not. :/

Lol, you have no idea how excited I was to see this thread! Always nice to "meet" more Toller people who don't belong simply to Toller specific boards. I love Cedar Fog dogs, and I've heard that she's a great breeder. I think my next one (if I don't keep a pup from Dance if/when she's bred) will be from the US, and Cedar Fog is one of the breeders I plan on contacting if that's the case. Those are great pictures! I really like the second one for some reason. I was thinking about doing some field work with Dance, but she needs to get a more solid retrieve before that ever happens. Unfortunately, she shakes everything around like a maniac on the way back to me and I'm trying to break her of that. She's only 5 1/2 months old though, so I'm hopeful that it will come with time.

Grammy, nothing against Goldens, but the reason I like Tollers is because they're not at all like Goldens. I like Goldens, but they're just not the dog for me and I'd never be content living with one.

Oh, here are a couple of newer pictures of Dance too, just because it's a Toller thread:

i'm not sure what betsy's planning to do with breeding. I know someone will be bred, i just don't know who or when...lol! i know that i'm planning on breeding daphne in the fall of 2008. I have a few studs lined up that i like, but no one certain.(the only thing certain is they all live a bajillion miles away...haha!! )

and sorta good news, sorta bad.

The good news is, Daphne is GREAT with live shot flyers. A lot of dogs will be afraid if they're still flopping around, but Daphne Picked it right up and brang it back. The Bad news is, someone of the field was moving around A LOT and making A LOT of noise and distracted her, so she didn't see where the second mark landed. oh well. I say it's pretty good for only knowing birds for 2 months. What made me happy was that a pro came up to me and said what happened was Bull and that he would try to get the judges to let her redo that whole mark over, but it didn't work. He also said she did the live shot flyer VERY good and hopes to see me at future tests. :D

I absolutely love Tollers. I love their high energy as I need a dog that can keep up with me. I'm not big on lazy dogs to be honest. Anyways... I seeked out this particular topic because Tollers are my big interest right now. I'm hoping to have one by late next spring or early in the summer. I'm looking around for good breeders preferably in the US only because I'm in the US. Has anyone noticed any differences between Tollers bred in the US verses the UK or Canada???

The UK and Australian Tollers seem to have a bit of a different look to them (maybe because there's not as many different dogs to breed to?). Tollers bred in Canada and the US are pretty similar in both looks and temperament, because a lot of Canadian dogs are bred to American dogs and vice versa. Temperament, drive, etc. can vary from breeder to breeder though, regardless of what country it's from.

I know of a site that has a huge list of different breeders from all over the world, but I can't find it at the moment.
