well uhm this is how i train frodo:
-first put some of his pee in the newspaper so it has a smell
-i rub his nose if he peed on the floor and scold at him, then carry him to the newspaper
-i put him in the newspaper everytime after he woke up/eat/sleep
-i put the newspaper somewhere he can always find, then slowly change it to the bathroom after he is trained.

i guess thats all..i learned it all from this forum..haha

I spent alot of time with Princess outside. I took with me little treats, when she'd potty outside I'd praise her and give her a treat and make it as exciting as I could for her to know she did great. Took no time at all for her to figure out it was great to do her thing outside. Then at night limit the drinking before bed. We have never done a crate with her, she sleeps in our room with us and has always held it until morning. With us it just seemed like once we mastered the potty training, going outside, the part of going all night just came with it. I wouldnt rub their noses in it, that isnt going to help any.

Most of my pups were paper trained by the time they went to their forever homes. I recommended to their new families put newspapers outside where they wanted the pup to go. Take the pup out whenever they awaken from a nap to the papers. Anytime you missed it and see them going in the house, scoop them up with a "NO!" and take them out. Don't expect a puppy to go all night. NEVER rub their nose in it ! If they sleep near you at night, and whine, take them out. Yes, it takes a bit of time and patience , but a couple of weeks of inconvenience is worth it . I always told the pups to "squat"......and all my adult dogs would pee when I told them to go squat !

I'm confused by toilet training. I've only ever seen cats who are toilet trained. I think you mean house broken because you want them to go outside to pee in the morning.

But then someone was talking about paper training...

Anyway to housebreaking is time consuming. If you want to crate train then ask us about that. I'll give you some tips on house breaking now.

-Give them regular meal times so that you know when they have to go.
-Take them outside immediately in the morning for a pee and then feed them and take them out again for a poop.
-They are puppies and will have to go once or twice during the night too. If you don't wake up and take them - expect messes. If you set an alarm every night they will get on a schedule and it will be easier. After awhile you can spread the time out so you don't have to wake up as much.
-Depending on how young they are they should be taken out to pee every three hours or so.
-When you are home and they are playing make them a play pen or tie their leash around your waste so you can keep an eye on them. You will get used to how they 'tell' you they have to go. Some circle or sniff a lot. They may look restless.
-If you catch them going in the house do somethign to distract them. Throw your keys down. Clap your hands. Don't yell at them. They aren't being bad it's a natural thing to do. Pick them up and take them outside.
-Use a product that gets ride of the smell in the house after they go. If they can smell it they will be tempted to go there again.

Do not rub your dogs nose in it, hit it or yell at it for going in the house. Potting is a natural thing that we all do. Everybody poops. That is a fact. LOL And if you give them trouble for it they will think they are bad for going in general. They won't knwo you mean for going in the house. And they will have more problems and may hide from you so they don't get in trouble.

You can expect this to take a long time. Weeks at least. Don't expect it to happen overnight. They will have good days and bad days. Be consistent and it will be easier.

Hope that helps.

Its funny because my puppy knows where to pee now.. (i used this spray that contains pheramones or something on his wee-wee pad) .. but for some reason he will not poop there! he'll go around the wee-wee pad, but not on it like he does pee.

but i want to take him outside.. but he hasn't got all his shots yet.. is it safe? cause he did have worms that i just got rid of both roundworms and tapeworms :( ...

Well, he could get worms again from eating poop or dead things. If you don't take him very far it could be safe. Do you have a backyard? If you do take him out keep him on a leash so you know what he is eating.

I would think so. Get some other people opinions though as I don't think I'm the best person to ask.
