What is it with dogs and toilet water? Do they love it because it's cold? Our dogs have water of course but they will move the seat and lid until it unhooks just to get at the bowl. I've decided not to care anymore. It used to really bug me but whatever. I've decided to leave the seat up because they'll just drool all over it anyway. Lucky steve  And I'm quite picky about what to clean it with. toilets!

I always make sure to close the bathroom door at least. I mean, what if Peanut got a hold of soap or something? As for toilet water, luckily she never acquired a taste for it.lol.

LOL Well, I never remember to close the door and it kind of bugs me when it's closed. I'm glad she doesn't like it.

I keep my tolit seat down, and the bathroom door shut. Once you have experienced the drool and slime on the tolit seat in the middle of the night...you learn not to leave it up. My Dobe and Rottie were very dainty about tolit bowl etiquette...my Newfoundland dogs...They dunk the whole muzzle and get all that water and drool flung on the tolit seat, walls, ceiling etc. I once left the tolit seat up and door open and used the tolit in the middle of the night...I almost slipped off the seat...very unpleasant and gross. :D

Oh Athe...what a visual..TOOOOOOOO FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mine don't care about the toilet, but I keep the lid closed anyway. Ham does like to go in the bathroom and lick the tub...go figure that. I clean the tub daily, make sure to rinse well...but for some reason he finds it quite tasty.

Ugh, the battle of the toilet! For years my husband has nagged me to close the lid because the cat likes toilet water and he gets really grossed out about that. For some reason, I just CAN'T remember to close the lid (hey, I remember everything else in this household, I just have a mental block about that! :D ) Anyway, now our new dog, Murray, has discovered the joys of the all night water hole. Maybe just maybe I'll finally start to remember to close the lid - he wakes us up every night with the sound of him slurping.

I don't know whether to thank her or not, but Shiva prefers the water out of the toilet TANK, Tankyouverymuch. She'll knock the cover off the tank to get to it . . . so we just end up leaving it off. Of course, she's bobbed for the float from time to time and has pulled off the hose that directs the water away from the side of the tank to prevent it splashing out, and she does drag the water in her jowls across the toilet seat . . .

See what fun you have waiting for you, Buckshot? :D

We use products to clean the water, so it's a no no to let the dogs drink it... Boris likes it too, so we make sure to keep the door closed. Besides, between the toilet paper rolls and the laundry, it's just way too risky (the bathroom is very small).

There is a reason that (and Im sure) you wouldnt have it any other way. Toilet seat up policy would allow for drainage :D

i always close the lid...that was after i read about all the bacteria that gets thrown up in the air when you flush...but most everyone else leaves it up...

i thought oakley never cared about toilet water until he discovered it one day, lol...i dont get it either...

the toilet isnt the problem though...its the garbage...he likes to pull everything out of it...we need to get one that is bigger, cuz its getting really annoying, cuz everyone forgets to close the door...

the one in the comp room is like, neck high on him,and he wont get anything out of it...even when i accidently threw his favorite toy in there...he was so stumped...couldnt figure out how to knock it over for the life of him, lol

anyways...so about those toilet bowls :p

Shadow isn't big enough to reach the toilet bowl yet, but I always shut the bathroom door cos she LOVES toilet roll! Keeps unravelling whole rolls all over the floor, then pees, and poops on it............so lovely to clean up soggy toilet roll........

Teddy learned how to drink from the toilet on his own and I guess decided he doesn't like it lol he likes the water out of the bath tub faucet MUCH better lol. but he does like to steal stuff out of the garbage in there. Especially the empty toilet paper rolls lol We know if he has one because he will run into our room when we aren't looking and head for the bathroom and then all of a sudden he will come FLYING out of our room into his room and into his crate lol then we have to go in to his room tell him to drop it and throw it out in the big garbage lol

As for the toilet paper on the roll we only had one problem with that lol and it was the most hilarious thing i have ever seen lol. We went around the corner and saw a trail of toilet paper in a perfect line running from the bathroom into Teddy's room lol we looked around the corner into teddy's room and there he was standing in his crate with the other end of the toilet paper still in his mouth with this look on his face like "I didnt' do it" it was the funniest thing ever. I couldn't help but laugh.

My Brothers GSD LOVES toilet water though so they let him drink out of there whenever he wants lol lots of times they will go in there and there is NO water left in the toilet bowl lol except for a little puddle at the bottom lol.

This is going to sound strange... but Skye drank out of the toilet until we started giving him filtered water with ice in it twice a day. Now he couldn't care less about the toilet water. Hmmm... I wonder why? lol!

I think they like the toilet bowl because it's so cold. So, the ice thing is probalby the key. I'm thinking about using Renee's trick of giant ice cubes in margarine containers. :D

Well, if Roxy tried, she would drown. We have caught Oreo once or twice taking a few sips. But it just grossed me out, so I made her get off the toilet. Our main bathroom is pretty small, so we don't let Precious in there at all because she is so rambunctious... We wouldn't even have a toilet anymore. :rolleyes:I don't think Spud ever acquired a taste for it.
