the neighbors got a doberman pup im guessin maybe 4 months old, but this dog will not go near them at all, she stays by my fence close to my dogs, she will let me pet her only and she barks at the neighbors kids and growls, i give her a firm no everytime i see her do it, also she is very timid when u go to pet her shell run or lay down and never wags her tail, i know nothing about this breed , but i dont want the dog to get older and bite one of there kids or one of my neices, she has the potential to be a good dog, any advice on getting her to come out of her shell??, i would really appreciate it

Sounds like this pup wasn't very well socialised, or has had some kind of traumatic event. Can you talk to your neighbours about it?
I brought home a very shy puppy a couple of years ago, and I helped her come out of her shell by having everyone we met give her a tasty treat. She learnt that strangers are nice people bearing cookies, but this is harder to learn for a Dobe.
Before you start using "no!" on her, try gaining her trust and confidence. Aslo, if you punish a scared dog whilst they are aggressing, it will only make the problem escalate. Not only are they scared of the "threat" now their friend is attacking them!

Yup, I agree with Bridey. Let your neighbors know that the dog needs more socializing. (hard to get the job done when it's already 4 months old) A shy or fearful Doberman is a disaster waiting to happen. This is a real shame.
