I went mountain biking with the hubby on Saturday and he found a tick on my neck afterwards. Two days later my lymph nodes were all swollen around it and I could turn my neck, but very gingerly. I went to the doctor yesterday, and they gave me a tetanus shot and some antibiotic. That thing really got me, my neck still hurts some today, and now my arm is sore from that shot too.

I hate ticks, they are so gross. My lymph nodes are still swollen, she said I had a reaction to it, but that the antiobiotic would stop any of the 3 tick borne illnesses in this area.

my lymph nodes have been swollen for 8 years. Make sure they test you for all the tick born infections not just lyme..and that they use the western blot for that not the one that is onl 36 percent accurate. Doxycycline is usually the first round.

I do a ton of mountain biking too, make sure that you get checked for alot of different things, I know here theres alot of different diseases passed by bugs like mosquitos, ticks, west nile, etc

All part of being a nature enthusiast I suppose, but theres alot that can make your lymph nodes enflame, so just make sure they know whats causing it.

i mind bugs..i mind ticks..ticks are the very creatures from hell. I shudder now when i see one. I worry when someone i love gets bit. I watch for telltale signs. A tickbite now doens't mean what it use to. In fact that goes for a lot of the other blood suckers too. Right now i am taking quinine for one tick hitchhiker and it has pulled the rug right out from under me..like every other antibiotic i have been on for the last 6 months. ALong with the quinine i am taking clindamycin..before that two months of flagyl, before that two months of zithromax. TWO daily (not like the 5 day dose pack they hand out) before that there as another one I can't remember the name of,and the two months before that was doxycyline. All along an incredible amount of nystatin for the belief is lyme coexists nicely with yeast. Something my soda loving friends should think about. I miss sugar, i so cheat but i still lost 20 lbs. I didn't even realize i at that much sugar.,...and starch, you can't have that either, or fruit sugar. All this thanks to my little tick buddy. i am not sure i could go hiking in the woods after this. IT was my number one most favorite thing to do too.
Activated charcoal, milk thistle, vitimin c, salt tablets ..cats claw..the list goes on what we all have to put up with to try to beat that "lyme disease".

Yes, they said they recommend if you haven't had one in the last five years and you get bit by some type of bug, that you should get one. I figured I was there and I hadn't had one in about 6 or 7 years so I should go ahead and get one.

They used to recommend them every 10 years, now its down to 5?? and we worry about overvaccinating our pets. The bacT that causes tetanus exists mainly in horse manure and is anaerobic. The reason "rusty nails" are so feared is cause most of them in the past were from fallen down barns and sheds on farms that had lots of horses and cows. Hardly a concern anymore. your dangers are from Deep puncture wounds and SOIL, not ticks. I'd love to see how many ticks are harboring Clostridium tetani. They'll tell you anything to stick you with a needle these days.

Just so you know, that probably wasn't the only thing given. They usually combine the tetanus booster with Diptheria and Pertussis as well and call it the DTaP booster. and included in this shot phenoxyethanol, aluminum, formaldehyde, and glutaraldahyde. Depending on the brand it could have some thimerisol in there too, which is mercury. No wonder your arm hurts.
