Cindy Cooke of the UKC is one person whom I have a great deal of respect for. She has been very active in monitoring anti-pet legislation that has been spreading across the US. For anyone who loves their dog and appreciates their right to keep a canine companion, this is a must read article:

I agree with the sentiment, but I think that dragging 9/11 into it was over the top.

I understand how some readers might not find this reference appropriate, but I think the point she was trying to make is that this is a very well organized group of extremists waging war on pet owners.

I can see why the reference was used as an analogy. I don't find it distasteful so much as I find it hackneyed grossly over used. But if it wakes a few people up and makes them realize that we ARE under attack . . .

The column would have, I think, been more powerful leading off with the account of the Littleton, Colorado travesty.
