Well at least she got both child cruelty and animal cruelty...I couldn't even really imagine how tramautic that would have been for that boy.

:madgo:

That is revolting. I wish there was a strong enough punishment for that sort of thing. I hate to think what else she has done to that boy that nobody knows about.

:( that's horribly sad. But I'm really proud of the kid for telling his teacher, and I'm really proud of his teacher for making him feel like he could trust her enough to be able to tell her.

Don't know how that qualifies as animal cruelty (remember people are free to determine the lifespan of their own animals, a hamster is a rodent and domestic rodents are killed in huge numbers and by various means as snake food all the time, and it's not like a hammer is going to cause any suffering) but as far as child cruelty goes, that is just awful.

Usually you here about "troubled" kids hurting animals of their own accord, and here is a kid who obviously has a bad home life yet is presumably sympathetic with animals, and he has that pathetic excuse for a mother. He deserves so much better.

How much do you want to bet that this kid will be returned to her? After all, parental bonds are "sacred," aren't they? And besides, I'm sure she'll promise never to do it again. :wall:

There are only three methods of euthanasia for rodents that are endorsed by the AVA as being humane. Those are cervical dislocation (neck breaking, if it's done right. Done wrong....urgh) lethal injection, and gassing with carbon dioxide.

Anyway, we don't know the details of the actual hammer to hamster part. It may be that it required more than one whack, which would absolutely be animal cruelty. A young kid like that who doesn't want to hurt his pet, and doesn't have the stomach for it, is likely not going to strike decisively, accurately, and without hesitation for the kind of blow needed to deliver a humane death.

There's a special place in Hell for people like that woman. Let's all hope and pray her son, while scarred for life, doesn't turn out to be a serial killer or anything sick like that.

:yikes: I just can't even put into words what I feel towards this person's parenting at the moment........I do feel queasy in my stomach, and think it was CRUELTY on BOTH sides.......animal and child.

Side note:
Once, about two years ago my son (then about 11, now 13) got into trouble for something........I don't recall what the circumstances were, but it involved extreme selfishness on his part. (and not the first instance to be exact) I made him pick out one of his toys and we took it to the goodwill box together and told him to place it in. He cried while doing it, and later when he couldn't see me, I cried. I felt HORRIBLE for it, felt like the meanest mother ALIVE at the time.............I called him in here to see this (since it wasn't graphic and just laid out the facts) and reminded him of when we took his toy to charity. He said he understood MY choice, but that mom was "JUST CRAZY" (exact words, LOL) so ya..........even a 13 year old kid knows crazy when he sees it.

I am glad that kid told a teacher or someone in charge............I am also VERY glad that an adult believed him enough to at least have it checked out.

Making a kid pick a toy out to donate to Goodwill is not actually a horrible thing to do at all. He probably picked out a toy he did not really want in the first place and secondly although it was a forced donation some kid probably really liked the toy that received it. So he actually helped make someone happy even though it hurt for him to do it at the time.

Your son is also better off because he does not have the mother that this poor kid has. I think we have all had things taken away from us when we did something wrong in our childhood but I highly doubt anyone here was forced to kill their pet.
