Wanted to introduce Pilot, with some pictures!

He's half Golden Retriever, half Labrador Retriever. He is a SDiT from an organization that places puppies in "raiser" homes to do most of the public access training. When he's 14-18 months, he will go back to the headquarters to be task trained and paired with a disabled handler, should he make it through training. I will be doing all of his socialization and training until then, and he'll be living in my house with my boys. I picked him up yesterday during a briefing with a few other puppy raisers also picking up their puppies.

Anyway. 8 weeks old - He'll be 9 weeks on Saturday. He weighs 20lbs, so he's a pretty big dude! Will likely be larger than Patton very soon. I've had him for about 24 hours now, he went with me to Biggby Coffee with me yesterday afternoon, to training class last night (where the video was taken), and to work with me today. He got to meet a couple of dogs last night, and he's probably met two dozen people. Nice genetics, from what I can tell! He's a very stable pup.

Very cute! I always wanted to get one of those SDiT pups. I saw them on campus all the time when I was in University... and not being able to have a dog of my own thought it would be a great way to get to have a dog temporarily without the financial commitment. Unfortunately my landlord wouldn't allow us to have a dog.

Have fun with him! He looks like a great little puppy! I hope he is successful in his training!

Major cuteness going on there.

At that size as a pup, you could be looking at a 120lber.

Haha well genetically, it's pretty unlikely. Neither of his parents has thrown such large dogs before (120lbs) and it seems pretty common for the labs to be much larger as pups and grow a little slower to fill out. A friend raised a purebred lab a few years ago that weighed around the same amount at 8 weeks, and ended up standard size, around 70-80lbs.
