I have a 2 year old English Bulldog female. A few months ago, I noticed a couple of small areas on her sides (by her hips) where the fur seemed to be thinning. I've had bulldogs before and know they can have skin issues -- since it wasn't bothering her, I assumed it'd heal on it's own, that it might be a seasonal thing. But the patch is now expanding.
The exposed skin is soft and healthy, no redness or marks. She doesn't scratch, lick or rub it. We had her on an allergy-free lamb and rice food long before the hair loss started. I switched her food to another allergy-free salmon and potato with a higher protein content just in case she wasn't getting enough nutrients. But that didn't help. I don't think it's allergy related as she doesn't have any other reaction issues and is otherwise healthy. I used medicated shampoo the past few times I gave her a bath, and it hasn't helped either.
I will be taking her in to the vet soon, but wanted to see if anyone here has any ideas of what might be causing it?? Any advice would be helpful!
