Lol this is a dumb post. But anyways I never realized that saying pop meaning "soda" was so weird but I guess it is. My sister and I were laughing and talking about 5 years ago when she and my mom and I went to Florida to visit family. We went on this cruise on fathers day and we came to this island with this cabanah like set up. Richard my cousin had set his sprite on the counter and my sister said "Richard don't forget your pop" and the guy behind the counter laughed and say pop and laughed some more. My sister said in a mocking tone "yeah what do you call it Soooooodaaaaa?" and the guy answered with a yes.

Atleast in this area of Ohio we call it pop. What do you call it and where are you from?

It's pop here. I said soda when I was waitressing so I wouldn't confuse the tourists.

In this part of Texas, they say coke instead of soda or pop. I felt like such a dummy when I first moved here: a waitress asked me if I wanted a coke, and I said "No, I want a 7-Up, please." She started laughing, and said that I obviously wasn't from here.

Here people say 'Do you want or coke or somethin?' Generally all restauraunts sell coke or pepsi products. Soft drink would be commonly heard than soda or pop.

Here people say pop and it's not a "ghetto" thing to say. I dated a guy from the south once, and he referred to all pop (soda) as "coke". And he called tissues "Kleenex".

In the UK we called it pop, we even had a pop man when I was a kid who delivered the soft drinks to the neighbourhood. Soda means a specific drink to me, soda water. Over here I say cola lite, or fanta etc.
