I am still cracking up about this one...

Today in my 200 person lecture of anatomy/physiology class some kid asked the dumbest question...followed by an even dumber statement...

Student: How detrimental is heart failure?
Professor: Umm...you'll die...
Student(as if to challenge the professor's answer): But according to Trivial Pursuit *everyone* dies from lack of oxygen to the brain...
Professor: umm, yes...clearly your brain wouldn't be getting oxygen if your heart isn't pumping...

::slams head on desk::

ok, i understand that not everyone may be aware of how the body works (i prob wouldn't have understood how dumb his 2nd statement was a few years ago), but this class is a 400 level class...you had to already have taken a physiology class just to get in it...there is NO way he shouldn't be able to figure that one out...

Hehehe....maybe he's from a future that heart failure just means you replace the heart with a new, better model. Rofl! That's funny.......hehee, poor kid. Hopefully he was just having a brain fart LOL

I kid you not, someone in my economics class thought Yale was a school for blind people.

Hey, at least they didn't think it was a school for making combination locks...

Did anyone see 'Are you smarter than a fifth grader?' last night? How about the girl who was asked how many consonants were in the word 'vowel' and proceeded to spell it as 'voul'? Or the guy who didn't know how many pounds were in a ton, then decided to drop out because he wasn't sure about the official language of Australia? Scary...:yikes:

I don't think its that dumb. People live with heart failure for years. Now if it was how detrimental is it after a heart has failed I see the point but not the way its worded now. People live with chf for years and years.

And with chf you do see the lack of oxygen causing problems that then lead the person to die vs the heart just giving out all of a sudden. the lack of oxygen shuts the poor pump down.

A Georgia student was visiting a yankee relative in Boston over the holidays. He went to a large party and met a pretty co-ed. He was attempting to start up a conversation with the tired line "Where do you go to school at?" The co-ed, of course, was not overly impressed with his grammer or southern drawl but did answer his question. "Yale," she replied. The Georgia student takes a big deep breath and says again, "WHERE DO YOU GO TO SCHOOL AT!?"

LOL *tucks this away in her "no stupid questons" bank*

Thats funny in a somewhat sad way. Just goes to show you once you hit a certain age there really is something called a stupid question.

I was thinking the same thing... maybe he was wanting to know how heart failure can affect you and how detrimetal the effects are. Obviously it can lead to death... but you can indeed live for years with heart failure. Did he elaborate on his question at all? Do you think maybe he was trying to ask how it may affect other organs or maybe just the quality of life..etc.
