Well...I'm Italian and was rooting for Italy so I'm happy :D.

However, I did think that Italy had an easier ride. Up until they played Germany (and that was a good game), they played much easier teams. Plus, France clearly dominated the World Cup game, especially in the second half; they had possession way more than Italy. Then again, Italy is famous for their defense.

I thought France was pretty tough though, especially with Zidane. I mean I don't know what Materazzi said to him, but that was uncalled for. I heard that this wasn't the first time he's retaliated with physical violence. It's sad that that's how such a great career ended, he was an amazing player. I wonder if the results would have been different if he didn't get a red card as he probably would have taken a penalty kick.

Regardless, it was a great game. Although the Italians did have reason to fall down some of the time and there were some elbows in the face and what not, I always get a kick (no pun intended) out of watching the Italians constantly fall when nobody even touched them, then roll around the ground moaning as if they've been shot. I think drama courses are a prerequisite for soccer :D.

Forza Italia!!!

i think it's a huge bummer that it all came down to penalty kicks. that's no way to win or lose something as big as the world cup.
