i don't think i've ever had a problem with a person and my dogs, to be honest. but i hate it when people touch them without asking first. not because of anything to do with my dogs, really, but because it's a respect thing. interestingly, i seem to have more ADULTS do that than children.

it drives me up a tree when someone touches Ruckus without asking. i have to prepare him to be touched. i have to kneel down, hold him still, grab his collar, and talk softly to him.

if someone just trys to pet him he will jump back, pull at the leash, and YELP

this happens with about 40 % of people he meets, he is very choosey.

hmm, well with the chihuahuas its USUALLY one of 3 reactions:
AWW HOW CUTE i MUST speak to it in a high pitched tone and shove my face into its nose and even occasionally TRY TO TAKE THE DOG AWAY FROM ME/PICK IT UP!
this reaction is ridiculous in itself, you NEVER shove your face into the face of a strange dog, what? do you like your nose still attatched to your face??? and how mnay people do you know that thinks its NORMAL to pick up a strange dog or tey and take it from its owner!?
luckily vixies fine with it, shed go with anyone that rubed her tummy, dodger however is a little more warey fo strangers as typical with the breed and while hes not "snippy" once told "hes warey of strangers please let him sniff you first" and they still put their face next to his...one of these days im gonna bite them myself.

the second reaction is "oh my god a chihuahua, those are evil..." course thats they typical reaction from ANYONE whos met a chi whos not been raised properly!

the thrid are the fake people (all to many round here) "oh how cute is that a chihuahua, my teacup is so much cuter," or "oh hes (my 3lb male) is so big compared to my frineds teacup" or, im getting one of those, but mines gonna be a teacup!" to those people i want to bite them too! 99% wont ever listen to the "teacups are somehting you keep in a cabinate and drink tea out of argument" so ive stopped bothering for the most part...
anyone that thinks 3lbs is huge needs a smack over the head with a great dane!

those are all when were out.

at home we occasionally have visitors who try and disaplin dodger for barking, and they are swiftly shwon to the door.
once i get my own place there will be a sighn neer the door.

I think people who come up behind a dog and squeal at it belong in a special level of hell, reserved for child molesters and people who talk in the theater.

But to by on topic.... most people respect my dogs... I wonder why... mwhaha! There was a guy at the dog park that hit Ilsa because she wanted to play with *his* dog's toys, and he got an earful and ended up leaving in a huff.

Take a swing at Ronin, and he'll probably bite ya. Take a swing at Ilsa, and *I'LL* probably bite ya! Take a swing at me, and BOTH the dobes will definitely bite ya!

"Dear Buddha, please bring me a pony and a little plastic rocket... "

I nearly peed myself. The show was better, but the movie was still fabulous.

Lmao!

Mm, I really liked the movie but I would die of happiness if the show came back. The SciFi channel and Whedon really need to have a little chit-chat. :D

The only problem I ever have with friends, relatives is their unwillingness to cooperate with her training. The UnDoers I call them. For example, I have a friend who kept saying Ohhhhhhhh It's Okaaaaaaayyyyy if Tosca jumps on her. I warned her that it might not be so okay when Tosca weighs fifty pounds. So now, Tosca doesn't jump on anybody but her and she's not so light anymore. Serves her right as far as I'm concerned. I know I could put a stop to it, but subconsiously I just think she deserves it.

The other thing that totally annoys me is when others think they have a right to give Tosca food and treats that I don't want her to have. I hate that. You're sitting over dinner and the person sneaks things to her, and that's an UnDoer.

I actually have a BIG problem with this. Well not so much now as I did when Foster was a puppy, but it's produced some REALLY bad behaviours in him. My brother and sister would always have parties with quite a bit of people in our house, and it could have been good for socializing foster to new people being in the house, but no. They just had to do the whole "OH PUPPY PUPPY PUPPY!!! and let him SCREAM bloody murder whilst he is jumping up on them and trying to lick them and they're petting him for this. I would always try to keep him on a leash with me in my room but people would come into my room without asking and just reinforce all the bad behaviours I was trying for him NOT to learn. I would always say "PLEASE just ignore him until he stops barking and jumping at you!" I swear they were all deaf. So now EVERY time people come over Foster barks, I swear he has the most high-pitched and ear piercing bark you will EVER HEAR! My dad is always yelling at me to "train your dog!" and tells people not to come over but he doesn't understand that I need people to come over to train him.

Another thing: one of my sister's friends was always, gah, I just don't even know how to say it. Anytime Foster would bark at him to be petted he would just go "SHUT THE F*** UP!!" and then I would be all "Why are you telling him to shut up now when before when he was a puppy you were petting him for this?" He is one of those idiots who believes dogs need to be hit to be trained. He's always telling me he's going to hit foster, kick foster, slap him. EXCUSE ME? DO YOU REALLY WANT THIS DOG TO BITE YOU? BECAUSE HE WILL. Foster DOES NOT tolerate being hit let alone touched by a strange person. He's a very sensitive dog and I think if I used that method to train him he would be an absolute disaster.

Sorry for the length! Gah, it just makes me so mad how so many people are so ignorant and insist on not listening to you about YOUR dog.

Most parents ask me if their children can pet my dogs, and I don't mind, as long as they dont have a lot of kids, and they aren't running at my dogs full-speed. I don't mind them petting my dogs, but I DO mind when they start hugging them like teddy bears.

Not only do they hate it, but it messes up the grooming I do on them!!

I hate it when people try to grab the dogs. Both of mine are generally OK with it, but Lilly is starting to lose some of her hearing and I don't want to put her in a situation where she can't tell someone is coming.
I also hate it when parents encourage their kids to do it. I was working with a dog named Basil at the shelter a few weeks ago when a family came in with a 3 or 4 year old. They told her to walk right up and pet Basil without asking me if it was ok. It was, but they had no way of knowing that and it didn't give me much time to put him in a sit so we could practice some nice greetings. I reminded the kid that it was nice to ask the owner before you pet a strange dog.
On the subject of our shelter dogs, and this has been mentioned, I hate it when people encourage them to jump. No, it isn't cute when they do that. Behaviors like jumping are the reason a lot of them are in the shelter to start with.

I think I'm going to write an essay called "Arab Fear of Dogs" and explore the Arab Fear of Dogs as a possible cause for the way people act really truly stupid around my puppy.
