...in the throes of early puberty.

We went shoe shopping last night. We went to 4 shoe stores and we didn't get anything but a meltdown. Need I say more?

I hear ya . . . . I was 5'2" and well into the throes of puberty at 8 years old . . . and wore a size 8 shoe. Meltdowns were the norm. Mom wanted to keep me in those GODAWFUL saddle oxfords with anklets or knee socks and I dug in and did my damndest to destroy them quickly - and sulled up when we'd go shopping for a new pair after I'd outgrown the last ones.

"Intractable" is probably a good description, lol. My sister threw tantrums - I was the oppposite - I shut down and refused to communicate or show any emotion at all. Drove my mother berserk . . . sent her into meltdown ever time ;)

OMG i hate shoe shopping with a daughter period. I use to shove the money in my daughter's hand and shove her in the door it was that bad. SHe had to wear whatever she came out with be it a bad decision or not.

Conversation with my 8 year old grandaughter..your squinting your eyes while your telling me this..your mother did that when she was telling me a fib..uhhuh..she would open them real wide when i told her she was squinting them like that too..had the same conversation when she was your exact age..which got yet again the same reaction of rolled eyes. I told her i have an unfair advantage of having gone through this already.Baton down the hatches 13 is on it's way.:yikes:
