Salad dispute leads to stabbing

Longmont - Italian dressing instead of ranch on a salad prompted a man to stab his girlfriend, police said Friday.

Jeffrey Vogel, 22, was being held on suspicion of second-degree assault and domestic violence in the stabbing of a 22-year-old Thursday night, Police Cmdr. Craig Earhart said.

"He apparently wanted ranch dressing and she had put Italian dressing on. Sometimes life is stranger than fiction," Earhart said.

Police said the suffered stab wounds to her arm and under her left armpit. She was treated and released.

Both Vogel and the victim were intoxicated, police said.

Vogel was arrested after barricading himself in a house for about four hours. No number was listed in Longmont for Vogel and it was unclear whether he had retained an attorney.

On the other hand, if Ranch dressing is outlawed, only outlaws will have.....o never mind.

I wonder what constitutes a stabbing? Was it a huge knife? Cause I'll 'stab' people with my fork when they reach over to grab food off my plate. I can't imagine someone stabbing with a combat knife or something over salad dressing.

Course, I can't imagine people baking a puppy in an oven and that happend so, who knows now a days?

I think he was in the right.

I see your point. She should either have put the bottles on the table and let him pick, or put the dressing in a little cup on the side. Once you pour Italian all over the lettuce the salad is pretty much ruined...He had very few options at that point.

At least I expect that is what his attorney will argue.

my Mom stabbed me in the lower lip with a fork full of broccoli, and scraped that nasty stuff off the fork with my teeth when i gasped. no lie. bled too.

still don't eat the stuff 30+ years later. ick.
