Got the most wonderful phone call last night…. Our puppy is officially born! We are heading out on Friday to take a peek at them (there were 6 born when the breeder called with another 3-4 to go). And although we won’t be able to touch them for health reasons, I’m super excited to go see them! I’ll be sure to take a ton of pictures for everyone.
Since I last posted there was actually a slight change in plans in terms of what puppy we are getting. Originally we were getting a pup from Chevy’s sire and Chevy’s mom’s aunt…however it seems Chevy was destined to be the last of the line as it was a false pregnancy and after a few tests Chevy’s dad is “out of business†so to speak. The vet said it was likely from the kicking/beating he received during the awful attack the breeder had shortly before Chevy was born (for those who remember, Chevy’s mom was actually stabbed in the incident and that was her last litter as well). SO….since the breeder had 2 planned litters for this spring, we have spoken for one from the other litter. Both parents are proven hunt dogs and come from good lines. Since we get first pick of the litter we will need to decide which color we want (all 3 colors in this litter). I suggested to hubby we take one of each color but that didn’t go over to well!
So now the name hunt begins! Currently all we know is we are getting a female. Hubby really likes Abby…I do too but it’s just so darn common! If anyone has any good suggestions I'd love to hear them.
And for those who are looking for a Virgo update: Still happy and content sitting in the passenger seat of the truck. She had to miss one of the last trips and stay at the farm with the driver's parents...and she was not happy about it! She really does love seeing the country!
