2 questions....

1.) Did you know that the NHL was not playing right now?

2.) Do you care that it will be back?

This is just for my personal curiosity.

Thanks!

I am relieved they finally settled, mostly because I was SOOOO SICK of seeing coverage of it on tv. I think the players are greedy little @$$es and I'm glad they got salary capped.
My husband is very happy-- what's winter in Canada without hockey?

I cried when I found out. I'm such a lil hockey nerd, blah, my favorite sport! I'm just interested to see all the **** changes. Sucks to know that a lot of the teams are going to lose their key players. It won't be the same, that's for sure....But at any rate, it's hockey, it's back. Let's continue on and make it better!

Indeed... I have been thinking a lot about the new CBA and what it might mean. There are 2 features of it I am really excited about.

1.) 2 way arbitration- As before a player who had a good season, go to arbitration and try to get more money. But NOW, a team can take a player who had a BAD season to arbitration and try to get his salary cut. VERY cool. No more guys like Jagr signing a 100 million dollar deal over 7 years and then not caring anymore and stinking up the joint.

2.) The cap is flexible, based on leauge revenue. it is now up to the players some to get fans interested again. Why? More fans means more revenue. More revenue means more cap room for them to get raises.

Also, Sammy... not ALL the players were greedy bungholes. Most of the problem was the Bill Guerin types. The over paid guys who took the position of "I would rather see the NHL fold than accept a cap."

All in all.... I am excited to see it back. It is going to be an interesting summer because a LOT of player movement is going to happen. Not only that, but ANY team can win the draft lottery and get to pick Crosby. LOL You know he is kicking back going.. "AWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" :)

Well I am not all that excited about the NHL coming back. I am bitter. lol. They didn't give a second thought about the fans they just assumed we would be back and they could use and abuse us some more lol. Well I'm not sure I want to be there when they get back. I don't want to give them any of my money lol. Don't get me wrong I love hockey more than the average person lol but I have been spoiled this winter without hockey on T.V. had to go watch live games now TV doesn't seem as exciting haha. but don't quote me I'm sure once things start happening I will be happy again lol.

Puckstop-- I heard rookies salary cap is $850 000 so Crosby better get some good $$ off endorsements I guess

Yes, the rookie cap is 850K. But, also note that ALL rookie contracts MUST be ONLY 2 years in he new CBA. This is a good thing. And yes, Crosby has already inked a 5 million dollar endorsement deal with RBK. So if he whines to much about "low pay", that would put him "on the list". Ya know?

850K I don't think any rookie is worth that much. Until he proves himself in the NHL he shouldn't get that much. Sure he's awesome and very skilled but so was marc andre fleury and look at him now. Playing in the AHL getting benched behind an ECHL goaltender. He might get to the NHL and choke. no rookie is worth that much their first year.
