Indeed... I have been thinking a lot about the new CBA and what it might mean. There are 2 features of it I am really excited about.
1.) 2 way arbitration- As before a player who had a good season, go to arbitration and try to get more money. But NOW, a team can take a player who had a BAD season to arbitration and try to get his salary cut. VERY cool. No more guys like Jagr signing a 100 million dollar deal over 7 years and then not caring anymore and stinking up the joint.
2.) The cap is flexible, based on leauge revenue. it is now up to the players some to get fans interested again. Why? More fans means more revenue. More revenue means more cap room for them to get raises.
Also, Sammy... not ALL the players were greedy bungholes. Most of the problem was the Bill Guerin types. The over paid guys who took the position of "I would rather see the NHL fold than accept a cap."
All in all.... I am excited to see it back. It is going to be an interesting summer because a LOT of player movement is going to happen. Not only that, but ANY team can win the draft lottery and get to pick Crosby. LOL You know he is kicking back going.. "AWWWWWWWWWWWWW YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
