If that is really not what you meant, then you really need to work on your delivery. Remember, sarcasm gets lost over the internet sometimes. It sure didn't read the way you are trying to explain it.

That's fine. And a lot of them couldn't do what I do.

For all of the " that is offensive" bandwagon jumpers, go back and read the original post. Then read Puck's comment about "letting the warriors loose" as if they are animals. Then understand the sarcasm in my reply when referring to "letting the warriors loose". These people are meant to protect our country--not to be "unleashed" or "let loose" on other people. Seriously. What the heck? If you can't respect soldiers for the service that they provide for our country, then YOU are the ones that are horribly offensive. They are not killing machines, they should NOT be deployed for aggressive nation building, and they definitely don't need to be "let loose".

To the person that called me racist. I don't even know how to respond.

What are you referring to? Please read my posts in this thread carefully before you respond.

And what's that? Give advice on an internet forum about anything and everything?
Aren't you a Scientist, Dr, dog trainer, computer genius, dietician, lactation consultant, history teacher... I can't think of all of the others... OH no wait... you are a student. I'm sure you are very smart... but you are also very dumb. You really seem to have no idea how to communicate your ideas and thoughts to people. You just come off as pompous and arrogant not as intelligent. You aren't doing YOURSELF any favors with the way you come across.

And I'm pretty sure everyone read your posts quite clearly. One bad apple ruins the rest. Don't try to pass the buck onto someone else. YOu said what you said... don't try to find a scape goat. Man up... own up to what you said and how completely ignorant it was and move on.

Based on my first post, I obviously have no regard for our military?

With the context of the first post, or even the thread, there is really no other way to take it.

Well, obviously there is because so many people seem to have taken it the same way.

Hi,

I just want to say that really, if you think about it...
Nobody can do what he does. Nobody, can do what I do..or anybody else does quite the same.
Because everyone is different! Woo!

That's all,

Ali

Personally, I think that the issue of what he said should be dropped so that this thread does not turn into another massive argument. That way we can all discuss and air our opinions. I, for one, have learned quite a bit about the war through this thread.

Please, lets just not argue on this one, everyone has said their say.

Just the word WAR makes me sic... I was in one.. I was 11y old.. I will never forget the bombs, plains, sirens... I'm sorry for all the people there.. I hope no one will be offend but it is my thinking that it really is taking too long now... For what... I don't get that... So many innocent people...So many kids died... And still it's not over and it wont be.. So sad... In some small way I agree with Herschel. I will never understand way America attack Serbia after the war was over?... I just don't know what the think anymore... If i understood my war it's all about power, money... :(

OOohh.. I forgot.. I wanted to say the first time but i was just a little bit angry... Small people (I think of us that has nothing to do with war) can't change anything.. We don't sit in a big chairs and we don't give any orders... So when all people who is BIG decide to stop it it will be stop... And I apologize if I offend someone, it was not my intention...

Howdy Herschel!!! I do hope this note finds all well with you and your family!!! I rarely post any comments on this site anymore (time constraints dictate otherwise), though on occasion I do indeed peruse "The Fire Hydrant" on Chazhound for a bit of amusement. Without question, your post(s) reveal that you maintain an elevated level naivete' concerning the global picture as it exists today; might I suggest that you diversify your sources of information, digest said information, and enlighten yourself............perhaps you'll be truly amazed of the FACTS which you'll glean:The very reality of life which confronts the global community, in particular civilisation, in this tumultuous era is truly a major concern. But allow me to add, your posts reveal that you're an MS1 (as I was over 30 years ago), very well then, remain focused on your academics but do please diversify your sources of information. OOO RAH's for you!!!

Our war in Iraq has lasted longer (in days) than either World War I or World War II.

Financially, it will cost:
-10 times as much as the first Gulf War
-30% more than Vietnam
-More than double the cost of the Korean War
-Twice as much as World War I
-$400,000 per troop
-$12,500,000,000 per month

In lives:
-At least 4,000 US soldiers
-Since the end of "Shock and Awe": 3,835
-Since the capture of Ssadam Hussein: 3,513
-Over 1,000,000 Iraqis

It was supposed to cost $200,000,000,000 total. It wasn't supposed to last 5+ years. We (the people) haven't faced the costs yet because the government is borrowing money from China to finance all of this--so the worst is still to come.

This is really sobering.

This isn't about a political candidate or party affiliation. This is about us. We let this happen. :(

Right... See, you really just don't have any clue about who and what our military is. You show this by showing us what you THINK I meant by "let loose". "Letting the loose" would be to let them do their jobs, the way they are trained... Without undue interference from the politicians.

Give them the mission and them allow them to execute the mission. Don't TELL them HOW to execute the mission.

And look at you tell me that our Soldiers are not "killing machines". Perhaps not in the context you use it, but that, at the crux of the matter, is what they do. The entire military has but one purpose and that is to break things. It is a horrible but sadly necessary business.

The way I see it, we have truth on our side. We go to great lengths to avoid civilian casualties. The enemy looks to inflict as many as possible. They fight to enslave. We fight to free. So when I say "turn em loose" I mean let them do their job. Like you said, they are not nation builders, they are Warriors. Let the politicians build the nation, let the warriors provide the conditions to do so.

The Warrior Ethos does not turn a man into a blind killing machine. It turns him into a professional soldier. You will just never understand what it means to be one. You just proved it.

1,173,743 Iraqi dead
3.8 million Iraqi refugees
3952 Coalition casualties

.. sorry it didn't mention animals.

Here's Scott Ritter: Marine Major and Chief Weapons inspector for the United Nations Special Commission in Iraq to name just 2. This man our Media doesn't want you to know about.

The sad thing concerning Obama and Hillary is if they mention the truth about death figures in Iraq ... most their voters would go Independent. McCain wants to kill more.

Yep you guess it ...

I think more people need to see the war from the eyes of the people being bombed.

I think you make a good point :)

Just for the record....

No one is PRO war. No one LIKES war. No one thinks war is FUN or GOOD. Just because people think that sometimes it may be nessecary does not mean they LIKE it. it's not like they are dancing in the streets about the lives lost. No one likes it.
