OC, The first pics you posted of the Neos are beautiful, awsome looking dogs, the last one is just sad.

I agree that the Corso resembles the old neos, but I still do not think that they old new was as slim as the Corso...

There are very good kennels in Italy still producing great working lines like of old..

Neo's are my favourite breed of dog. I'll definately be adding one to the family in the not too distant future.

However I have to say I don't like the old look that OC posted pictures of. I also hate the very "typy" show versions people have today. I met a few at a show a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed by all of them.

I like a happy medium between the two, something that is obviously athletic but not "houndy" or "tight skinned". Something that is obviously a mastiff, but not something so heavy and short that it ceases to be able to function like a dog.

Something more like this, is what I'm looking for in a Mastino..

OT, but I've never seen any pictures of the "old Corsos" - anyone want to enlighten me? I'm curious about the way they looked, even though I adore the look of the "new" Corso.

I cannot help but wonder how a Neo is supposed to function as a guardian with lips like that. Wouldn't the poor thing bite its own lips if it ever had to attack? Tight-skinned is not necessary, but is there an actual functional reason for lips that hang down a foot?
