I just love our mailmen. They always leave Teddy a treat if they happen to see him while they are leaving the mail (we don't always have the same mailman so they don't always know there is a dog)

if he barks at them they always leave two biscuits LOL.

today I happened to have Teddy out front for a potty and the mailman came and he left two treats in the box for Teddy because after he said hello, Teddy started to bark at him LOL

Do your mailmen leave treats?

Ours doesn't, whenever me and Charlie and the mailman are out at the same time he usually just nods and smiles...though I can't really blame him, I couldn't even imagine how many aggressive dogs he's met on the job...

LOL Our mailman just drives by in the little mail truck and our mailbox is at the end of the driveway LOL (as is everyones around this area) So he probably doesn't have the same problem with aggressive dogs LOL he can just drive away.

He doesn't leave dog biscuits but he does leave little letters telling us that we get too many packages and need a bigger mailbox. LOL

My mailman isn't tremendously friendly, but he is fearless. When the crazyYorkie got loose and flew through the door at him, he just snatched the leash up and dangled the dog in the air (the dog wears a harness and leash 24/7) at a safe distance.

I think it's a nice gesture that they leave treats, but I also think that they should consult owners before hand... only because some dogs have sensitivities to be worried about... It probably does help the animals understand that this person is good though... it's easy to learn to bark at the mailman... think about it... the mailman never comes inside, just to the door, doggie sees that as a victory brought on by their fierce display...:D the cycle continues!

That's how all of our mail men do it also.

Not anymore, but before when we had this mailman he was really nice and loved Lucas. He would do the same thing as yours, leave treats in the box for Lucas for later. Sometimes if I'm out with Lucas and they come around he'll ask to feed it to him and I say yes and he goes over and gives him the treat and pets him. It's so cute!

So of course when I go to get the mail Lucas get's excited expecting a treat

The last time we ordered a pizza the lady who brought it asked if she could give Katie a biscuit. I said yes, and thought it was really very sweet of her. (Katie wasnt too impressed however. It was just a PLAIN doggy biscuit. LoL Shes wanted the pizza!)

I give Teddy the biscuit. he just leaves it in the mailbox. it is just a milkbone and I would know if Teddy had sensitivities and I wouldn't give it to him :D but luckily he doesn't so he gets to gobble it up.

I don't think he knows where the treat comes from. Our mailbox is at the end of the drive way, they only come up to the door if they need to leave a package. But I always tell Teddy it is from the mailman LOL

The most I've ever gotten from my mailman is
1. Somebody's else's mail
2. A note saying there was too much snow three days ago so here's your old mail now.

I do get biscuits from the girl at my bank's drive in window though. I try to make a point to bring Tosca when I go there because if I don't, she asks where she is. She puts biscuits in the return container.
