Aww adorable pics..

Umm about the chewing sticks.. as long as they just chew, I'm sure it should be fine.

Keep in mind that it DOES have its disadvantages like possible splinters in their mouth, or.. if they run with their sticks..they have a chance of hitting the ground while the dog is still moving and they get stabbed in the mouth.

This actually happened to Riot yesterday.. we were going for a nice wooded walk and he grabbed this big stick in his mouth, dashed along with it and then i guess it hit the ground on one end while he was still moving full throttle and it stabbed him in the tongue. He was gushing blood from it for a minute and then it stopped and he was fine. I checked to make sure there were no splinters after it stopped bleeding. He didn't pick up a stick after that though.

chewing sticks

Yes, they can be. I know unfortunately from experience. My dog was grabbing tree branches (we were trimming the trees and he thought he could help!) and I thought it was funny that he was grabbing the branches still attached to the trees. Later that evening he was pawing at his mouth, so I opened it and low and behold there was a twig wedged in the back of his throat! He is a great dog and I was able to get the stick out. Now I check his mouth if he decides to do any tree trimming on his own.
