Does anyone else HATE their christian/given name??? I do, it SO doesn't suit me!! In fact I cringe when I hear it in it's entirety!! :( I suppose it could be worse, like for example my friend at school who was called.. Hazel Nut!! Seriously!! And her brother was called Peter... P Nut! *shakes head*

By the way.. My name is *cringes* Louise. Ick!

ahhh, Gus (is that better?), lol. I think nobody is completely happy with their birth name. Mine is "Debra" (ugggh). Kids used to call me De-Bra; because I was never quite as developed as other girls my age, LOL! I don't like to be called Debra, but everyone calls me Debbie or Deb (and other names that have nothing to do with my name, hmmmmm  ). My Mom was actually going to call me Audra. (she was a Big Valley fan). Thank god she didn't stick with that one! LOL

BTW, Louise is nice strong name :)

Amazing what some parents will name their kids... I'm not real fond of my given name either (Joanne), but half the time, people don't know if they're talking to me or my twin so they don't get the names right anyway. (We answer to each other's names, drives people crazy when they call out 'Joanne' and we both turn around. Lol!) Besides, my family never uses given names (unless that person is in deep doodoo), so to them, I'm Jodie.

I have an Aunt Louise, she's a neat lady - 87 years old, sharp as a tack and she arrived at the family reunion last year on the back of a Harley (her son's).

I don't exactly hate it, sort of grown used to it over the years, LOL. I used to just LOVE the way my Polish Granny used to pronounce it until my mother reminded me of the bad habit of shortening names. Shortened, it just didn't sound all that cool.

I love the internet. I don't hate my irl name, but usually feel more Meggieish, so Meggie is who I am here. My irl name seems just a little too formal for me. :D

Hey Lo-er, I mean Gus . . . count your blessings. My paternal Grandmother had that classic French name . . . HORTENSE!

All in all, I like my name. It fits. I like my middle name also, Judith, but I don't use it as people always want to shorten it to Judy, which does NOT fit.

my mom named me Debbie....not Debra or Deborah. I used to call myself Deborah...seemed better than Debbie Webbie. lol we also never call each other by our proper names, so it doesn't matter in our family. Dave is Lefty, lil Dave is Fred Manduble, Steffibeans, Stuwoo, Sam Adams. I'm just Mom, but Dave has always called me Debbers. :) :)

I love the name Louise. It was my Gandma's name. We had planned on using the name, but alas, no more children for us :(

Now MY name.... here's a hint, a very famous singer and his wife gave their daughter the same name around the time I was born and named and so, I went through school with no less than a dozen girls with the exact same name! I'd love to have something more unique, while still staying traditional.

Heh, I'm named Melissa, and in the late 70s everyone was named that. So there was never fewer than 3 or 4 others in my class (I'm a country girl, so classes were small, 3-4 out of 20 is alot LOL!). I used to hate it, but got over it. I can't imagine a different name.

Im not happy with my name (Samantha) because its so common around here. I hate when someone says my name and they don't mean me and then I look like a fool.

I love my name, I think it fits me well.

But my sister hates her name. She thinks it sounds too much like a "ditzy girl" name.

Heh, she also hates her middle name (Dawn), but that's my fault. When she was little, I told her that Mom and Dad ran out of ideas when it came to her middle name, so they just named her after the dishwasing liquid sitting on the counter. Dontcha love big sisters? :D

ROFLMAO!!

My middle name is Dawne, with the 'e' on the end. My folks added it for my doctor's first name. It was Esther. I'm glad they just added the 'e'! Oddly enough, she delivered my oldest son for me too, and his middle name is also in honour of her, James.

I love my name. I've only met like three other people named Jocelyn so its not to common and it jsut kind fits me. I have to admitt I hated it when I was little though.

My mom wanted to name my little brother kizmit:eek: thats a bad name.

I am torn because I love lindsey as aboys name as it was originally but how teased would a little kid get with that name. So I guess if I ever have a little boy it'll have to be a manly name:p

I really don't like my first name or my middle name. My first name is Alice and my middle name is Louise. So its Alice Louise.
I get refered to as Alice in Wonderland, Alice the Camel, and people who i don't like sing songs that have my name in it.
But that was mainly when I was a bit younger, its doesn't happen as often nowdays.

My name - Grace - doesn't exactly suit me. I used to hate it. Up until I was about 14 I was a complete tomboy and nothing was more frustrating to me than having such a feminine name.

I don't mind it now, really. I do think my middle name is way too common (Marie) but it's pretty anyway.

not so bad

I didn't like my name much as a little child because they kids would always sing: "Nancy pancy pudding pie, kissed the boys and made them cry" There was more to the song, but that's all I can remember.

But as I got older I learned how my name became my name. When my mom was pregnant with me her neice Nancy used to tell her she wanted to buy me when I was born and one day Nancy handed my mom a big jar of pennies and asked her if it was enough money to buy me. My mom felt so bad crushing her hopes of buying me but made her happy when she told her she would name me after her if I was a girl.
