I wish Fennec wasn't so cute and endearing. I didn't want to like her so much haha. I don't mind having four dogs at home, but when it comes time to go somewhere and I don't want to leave anyone behind, it's a little more difficult. Ugh. I'm so conflicted. Every day I wonder if I should keep her or not and every day she makes me love her more. Decisions, decisions. It doesn't help that if I do keep her, she's free lol. Who doesn't like a free puppy?
Keep her. Done. :D

Sometimes, while I'm brushing out dogs at work, I think about starting a doodle dematting service. No haircuts, no baths, just $30/hour to uncarpet your doodle so they can keep their 6" of horrible hair the next time they go to the groomer. Around here I could make a fortune.

Funny enough, I was just thinking that today. We had 5 doodles at work, and only one of them wasn't matted to some degree. It's had to tell that they're matted without really touching them, and I don't think most owners bother. If they don't actually see mats, it's like they aren't there.
ETA: The nonmatted doodle is the only one I've ever seen that looks like a picture of a doodle. You know, her moms actually brush her so she looks fluffy and not jericurled.

At work we do bath+brushouts and no haircuts. I get a huge kick out of dematting doodles and have only had a couple I couldn't line combe with a fine tooth comb within an hour or two. I like to brush them out like I'm trying to impress the person that cuts their hair.

Also, they all shed. Every. Single. One. Some of them shed more than the average unbrushed lab. I usually chide them for this and inform that they are a magical nonshedding doodle so they'd better shape up.

In bed, with Roxie attached to my side keeping me warm. I've decided to read Harry Potter again because I really miss it, and suddenly, as I'm slipping into sleep, I'm hit by this immense nostalgia of being in the exact same position years ago, but with Buddy on my side, my hand on her ear instead of Roxie's.

Gods I miss Buddy and her long Beagle ears. I miss those ears so much.

Is that weird? Is it weird, how much I wish Roxie didn't have tiny, thin ears that are too short?

I would love just one moment, just one to be able to massage Buddy's ears again. Missing her hasn't hurt this much in so long. And it hurts so much. I remember so clearly that night that I was reading with Buddy, and now I feel like I've lost her all over again.

I hate cancer and I wish dogs' lifespans were anywhere near as long as ours.

I was just listening to the soundtrack to the second movie for the first time in years and I forgot how much I liked it, especially Fawkes' theme (the second track).

I'm the biggest jerk and Leo is the best dog ever.

So, Leo is great with his meal times. He will not touch his food unless I say Ok, and then I still sometimes have to say it with the perfect pitch for him to eat. That being said, he is HUGELY food motivated, and wants his food very very badly when I put it down.

So, I decided to do an experiment. I put his food in the bowl, aimed my phone (which was recording) at the dog bowl, and then completely left the house without giving his release word, in an experiment to see how long it would take until he would help himself.

Anyways, I go for a walk, but it's pretty cold, so after ten minutes I go back, thinking surely he has eaten by now. Well...not only did Leo NOT TOUCH his food that entire 10 minutes, but he spent all 10 minutes in a downstay whining pitifully at it. I'm so mean!

Now I am truly curious how long it would take for him to break down and eat it, but I don't want to torture my dog like that so I guess we will never know.

I've done this with my dogs. Indy won't touch it. Harrison breaks down after about ten minutes and starts picking out single pieces of kibble lol.

The local shelter is all, "We're overflowing. We have over 200 dogs with an average of 10 being surrendered a day. We need adopters."

There are at least two dogs there I'd love to bring home (mid sized Lab mixes, female, black, quiet, sweet), and I'm sure I could find about 10 more.

Ugh. I just keep telling myself there will always he dogs in need and I can't save them all, but ugh.

ugh. I love Addie but this teething "MUST have your hands in my mouth" phase can pass quickly lol. It pays to have a chewy, stuffy or bully stick handy at all times right now. When she's played and tired, I get my sweet puppy back/glimpse of her adult self for just a few minutes (until she recharges).

These snuggly moments are the moments I cherish because they are so few and far between right now but I know I will be sad when one day she doesn't need to chew on me (or my hair). Ok. Maybe not.
