Oh god, Uly just bit our friend. This guy has loved Uly since he arrived, had considered adopting him. He was sitting and petting Uly, who was leaning and poking Mike with his nose begging for pets. No growl, no warning at all, he just went from nuzzling to biting in an instant. I had scheduled his euth date for Wednesday and now I think I'm going to have to turn him over to Animal Control instead.

All of his other bites have been in contexts involving other animals and obvious stress. This...was completely and utterly unexpected and unprecedented.

That sucks. Can you just move the euth appointment up? I always hate seeing dogs stressed to the max for their last days and I would think that AC would be ok with him being euthed vs. quarantined since he's up on his vaccine.

Ugh, I'm so sorry. For what it is worth, my Collie mix has done that before. Illicited pets, then nailed the person in the face with no warning. It was also with someone she knew well (my brother). Her only saving grace is that her bites aren't severe and are typically just air snaps (although she has mildly broke skin two or three times). Her behavior isn't medical, she just has a super low threshold and only she knows what particular triggers will add up at any given day.

This... I hope you can let him go as peacefully as possible.

Lexi just had an awesome meet and greet with a potential forever home. He has a 2 y/o Viszla who loves other dogs, owns his own home, and has been looking for a second dog. He's taking her next weekend once his brother moves out of his house, for a trial. So pumped for Lexi! She really loved him too, I think she would prefer a male owner judging from their interaction.

I am so sorry for the loss, Pinkspore. From everything you have posted, I do believe you released him from some sort of pain, whether mental or physical.

You gave Uly so much love and care over the months you've had him. That's a huuuge gift, even though his story had to end today. (((hugs)))
