When I think about trimming Merlin's ear fringe I get the weirdest random utter guilt because it makes me feel like I'm telling my kid he's ugly and changing something about him for purely my benefit.

I understand this is totally irrational and crazy talk and yet every time he goes to get groomed I'm like ehhhhhhh leave them alone
I am honestly the EXACT same way about Recon's ears. Lol.

Sometimes I wish I had less ethics.

A relative of mine is friends with a person that breeds labradoodles and goldendoodles at a high volume. They made $30,000 on puppies in one month. $30,000 worth of puppies! That's insane.

Blech.

Haha. I'm the exact opposite. I look at Watson and think, "Trim all of the things!" I get OCD about his grinch feet, or neck fur. I actually like a little extra fluff on the ears (more than most show people), but I like the bottoms trimmed neatly.

I think this at least once a week... Oh how "easy" it would be..

All ear fringe should be left alone. It is so engrained in me now. I get OCD about feet though.
LOL this is why I won't own a pap. I would probably ruin it.

Stud fees are $1000! P is a nice, pretty boy! I could resolve ALL my financial woes off Payton's sperm if I were less ethical.

I've also considered running a scam where I let Auggie hump a bitch for $1000 and somehow fail to mention he's neutered.

Why do people think every mix in the world is a pit mix? I swear to god I could put a picture of a purebred Italian greyhound up and ask what breeds people thought my new shelter dog was, and someone would suggest pit mix. NOT EVERY DOG IN THE WORLD WITH A SKULL IS A PIT MIX, PEOPLE.

I have no idea why that bugs me so much.

LMAO! Best scam ever! Especially since he's so fluffeh they'd never tell he had no balls. :D

This bugs me, too, but do does the opposite. I get really annoyed when I see a dog that is so freaking obviously an APBT/mix and the shelter labels it a "lab mix" so its chances of adoption is higher.

I've gotten it with Rigby before. Only twice, but it still bugs me.
One was a man at one of our shows. He approached me, pointed at Rigby and said something along the lines of "I have a pit bull at home too, it's a good dog"
Another was something along the lines of "aren't those dogs banned in Ontario?"
Rigby the pointy faced herding dog....

That also bugs me! I get that they want to increase the dog's chance at adoption, but is that really wise? Labs are a very different breed in terms of temperament than Pits.
I actually see a lot around here labelled as Cattle Dog mixes. It's like I see NO cattle dog whatsoever in these dogs. One was so blatantly a pit mix and it said "There is NO pit bull in this dog, it's a kelpie mix"

I think it's very irresponsible to send a dog home with someone as well as misinformation about what they can expect. People should know what they're getting into (to the best of their ability and how well they know the dog they're adopting out).

This dog. I'd bet my left arm he has a bully breed in him. I see no lab, but that's the only breed they acknowledge.

We can breed him to a poodle! It's genius!

So my coworker just now: 'Are you excited Westminster is on tonight?'
'I probably won't watch it.'
'Oh why?'
'Well I'll be gone tonight' (at agility) 'Besides the agility was on Saturday'.
'The what?'
'The um... obstacle courses.'
'Obstacle courses?'

People look confused when you try to explain agility to them.

Usually people understand when I say the "dog obstacle course"...I wouldn't know what to say if they didn't get even that though :(

I feel bad that these people are deprived of something so wonderful :p

So was admiring a breeder's dogs.

There is a dog that has dog 'A' (we will call him) as a grandfather on the dam's side, great great grandfather on the dam's side, and is both grandfathers for the sire. In 4 generations that dog is there 4 times. He is directly behind or is all four of the grandparents. Ridiculous.

For lack of more specific phrasing, that...is really kinda icky.

Really icky. I don't even want to guess the COI. And a lot of their dogs are similar (that same dog showing up 3-4 times in a couple generations for most of them). I was thinking their dogs were pretty and very typey. Hopefully with that close of a breeding they'd be typey. I mean I get that he's a popular and successful dog but seriously? He does seem to produce pretty show dogs. *sigh*

Oh and one of that dog's sons shows up multiple times as well in these pedigrees.

I'll pass.

You should read Patricia Craige-Trotter's book, "Born to Win". She shares a ton of pedigrees of top BIS winning dogs, and it really opened my eyes to see how much inbreeding is in these dogs. At least as bad as what you described, and in dog after dog who was a top winner, over many breeds.
