the coloring has nothing to do with what breed he might be, because pits can be any color other than merle.

People are clueless, around here every brindle dog MUST be a greyhound or a grehound mix. There's no doubt in my mind that a bunch of people would ask if she was a mastiff because of the color. Maddie MUST've been a Golden Retriever when she was a puppy, because numerous people asked me if she was and said it was because of the color. And I thought Everybody knew what a Cocker was lol
As for GSD, I absolutly do not see any Shepherd in your dog, even with my glasses on!

Messina looks Pit to me. She's not particularly typy, especially in the head (I honestly prefer her type of head, the insanely huge, excessively wide heads on some of these show Pits just looks awful.) and the uncropped ears probably throw people off. People also tend to think that any dog with a black mask/muzzle is a GSD or Mastiff.

Messina looks 100% pit bull to me! She looks an awful lot like Buddy (he's an AmStaff). People ask me all the time if Buddy is a Boxer mix, and even my vet put him down as a Boxer/Lab...... but maybe that was because of BSL.....
Anyway, gorgeous fawn/buckskin Pittie girl! I bet she is loads of fun and a real cuddlebutt!! Too bad about the extreme Canada has gone to in BSL. I hope that it will be reversed soon! (BTW.... do you belong to the Pit Bull Forum?)

I have had people say similar things to me but usually because my dogs are so friendly that they don't want to believe a pitbull could be so nice. I have had my dogs called everything from Boxers, to Labs to Dane pups....its actually funny

She looks like a pit bull to me. People get confused because no one really knows what a pit is supposed to look like. They may think she's a german shepherd because of the black mask, but also because of the "moles" she has on the sides fo her face. My mix has them too. Pits can range in size from the more traditional 30# to 100# behemoths. A 55# pit seems to be the more normal size these days however.

She looks very sweet... and the ears? Meh. My pooch has the rose bud ears (the ones that flop over at the half way mark) but I have seen pure breds with bat ears - the straight pricks that your pooch has.

Beautiful girl however... no matter what she is to anyone who sees her. Beauty and breed is truly in the eye of the beholder!
