I spent an hour breathing under water last night! HORAAY for me, I started my PADI open water course last night.

Ok, I only did a pool dive with mask clearance and buddy breathing, but it was so exciting, my muscles are sore and I can't stop smiling! I am really looking forward to my first sea dive.

Cape Town has some really cooking dive spots like the kelp forests and wrecks. We have some beautiful underwater life too, with plenty of space for shore entry as well.

So, wish me luck everyone, please. I really want to pass and get certified quick quick.

Thanks, I am really looking forward to learning underwater photography! That is going to be awsome, apparently the divers that have been going out in the last month have been having some up close whale experiences. Can't wait!

That's so awesome!! Congrats! :D

I've always wanted to take that course but I don't think I could handle being underwater like that.. I think I'd panic..

Good luck to you in the rest of the course! I'm sure you'll do wonderful! :)

I did! The first time we submerged I had a little moment. But the instructor was really cool and just held my hand until I calmed down. I am not an overly obvious panicker either, somehow he just knew. He didn't do or gesture anything. Just reached to me, I took his hand and he waited, all the while looking me in the eyes.

He makes me feel really safe. I am so looking forward to tonight! Lesson 2. I am even starting to dream about diving! So lame!

I used to dream about horses all the time as a kid. I still do now and again, I would love to get back in the saddle!

Ohhh, you are SO lucky you don't even know it! I want to go diving so badly, but being landlocked as I am, I don't really know how to go about doing that. I know of a few people who are certified to train, but then the whole "trip to the ocean" part is where I get stuck.

Zoom, I know how lucky I am to live where I do, so many people who live here never take advantage of how wonderful it is!

This is one of the best dive spots, right near the rocks, I live a 10 minute drive from there.

Lesson two last night. Started off with backwards pool entry. It was easier than I thought. Then we did BCD disconection. Your BCD is your bouyancy (sp) control device. You disconect the pressure hose and inflate it orally.

Then mask removal and swap with a clear. Then mask restrieval. That was horrible. You feel flooded, even though you can breath you feel all out of place because you are rushed with water!

After that I did wieght belt removal and replacement. You roll your belt off and roll it back on. All in all my instructor says I have a good head and should do fine.
