First off let me introduce myself a little bit. My name is Drew. I am a college student who is very into the outdoors. Mountain Biking, Paddling, Backpacking, Road Cycling, Bouldering, Splunking.... you get the point I am sure. I even chose my college, North Georgia, due to the outdoor settings it provides. I have always wanted some type of outdoors dog... Like a caucasian , Lab, Golden, or something like that.

My aunt breeds Yorkshire Terriers and she has been doing it for a long long time. She lives near my grandmother, within walking distance, so I have really gotten to know her dogs. I mean I knew how they acted towards myself, strangers, and all that good stuff.

I ended up getting a yorkie from her for two reasons

1) I live in a rental house for my college years. I need a companion who is small enough to have a good time in my little yard and small house. He is also perfect because he doesn't shed too much (I know he will have to lose some of that puppy fluff though) and that will please my land lord!

2) His mother, the bitch, developed "milk weed" and it nearly killed her. It was something we had seen in a few of our cows over the years. So my grandmother bottle fed the pups and when I would come home I got attached to the little puppy with a white foot (back to tan now he has lost it).

I know he isn't your typical outdoors dog, but hopefully he can develope into a dog who will join me in my trip from Georgia to Maine on the Appalachian Trail. If not he is still my room mate and best friend and will be able to provide the company my wife wants when I am away on extended "business trips" :)
