You know each day Molly just amazes us at what a good dog she is. I have absolutely nothing to complain about concerning her. She has a great personallity, is so well behaved, learns things very quickly, never chews anything she isn't suppose to, plays great with the kids, walks nicely on the leash, she is just such a wonderful dog.

And if it wasn't for the fact that her previous owners were morons, then I wouldn't be blessed with with have such a wonderful dog in my life.

As much as I hate people who don't care properly for their pets and let them run loose to be picked up by animal control and then leave them abandoned down there at the pound...sometimes I just feel grateful to them.

Amen! Sawyer, the bestest dog in the whole wide world, was left as a stray with his sister, who I hear is just about as cool as he is. Virgo too is an awesome dog...as is Aubrey my ex's dog...

So yeah, other's idiocy is my ever lasting gain!

Well yes that would have been ideal with Molly too. But since fate didn't bring her to us as a puppy, I am glad that the people she did start out with were dumb enough to throw her away. She really is a great dog.

Sarama's former owner, who trained her (partially) and dumped her at a rural shelter on death row . . .your loss is my gain . . .on the other hand, it was so, very, very close . . . :( Six hours to go . . .

I know what you mean. I'm still baffled by my Foster's previous owners. He's amazing. The only thing he needed was a neutering & seems to have some itchiness. Behaviorally he's pretty bombproof. He's so sweet & funny. I'm clueless why they surrendered him.

I have mixed feelings. If Uncle Fred hadn't been so damaged, I would never have discovered coonhounds. Like many people I was unaware of what amazing pets they are. But I love him, and I wish I could have spared him the starving, the neglect and the beatings he had to undergo to get to my family.

I feel that way about Banzai. He is such a good dog. He possesses every quality I would ever want from a dog except for being fearful. But that's what happens when idiots don't know how to take care of or train a dog and resort to physical means. You get a fearful dog, who, still, after a year will cower at a raised voice or quick actions in the house- and we have NEVER raised a hand at our dogs.

So, anyway, besides that, he is just the best dog, he is so devoted and has taken on this new level of "guard dog" and he lets me know every morning and every night when our it's time for our cuddles. :)

Buddy, too. I wouldn't have my heart dog if it weren't for the idiots that took him to the SPCA. Their loss, my forever changed life gain. Shows them. :D

ETA: I too, however, would have much preferred they found us first, rather than Banzai going through 3 homes and Buddy getting parvo at the SPCA, etc. etc... but such is life and we make the best out of what we have now. :)

I agree with you Dr.Mom. I absolutley am not grateful to the people who let my boy go. Infact I despise them and what they did to him. He was a rack of bones, malnourished, neglected, in general one sick boy. Without them I would never have been able to rescue him, but I will never be grateful for the reasons that led him to me. Instead I am just grateful for him, grateful that he is part of my life, grateful that we have years to go!

Its definitly a shame that any of the dogs on here had to go through the life they did before they came to us.

It so weird to want to thank someone and beat the crap out of them at the same time. Very twisted.

Strangely, I've felt that way about people I actually know . . .

Fortunately, Sarama doesn't seem to have been badly mistreated, though I think she was probably trained by fairly harsh methods. Her skinniness when I got her was from the shelter, as was how dirty she was . . .
