Several tv shows about dogs have mentioned "terrier teeth".... as if you can tell a terrier by it's 'typical' "terrier teeth"... can someone tell how me how a terrier's teeth are different than other dogs? (if they are). TIA...:)

Well, I guess no one knows anything about terrier teeth, huh? :lol-sign: I was just curious, as I had heard this referred to several times and wondered what in the world they meant. Guess I am not destined to know....

My Jrts and most jrts that I know, have very large teeth for the size of the dog. They should also have a scissor bite, level is ok, but not preferred.

I have seen the teeth of other breeds like poodles etc of similar size of terriers and those breeds the teeth are at least half the size if not a 1/3 of the size. Other than that I don't know what they would mean by it.

Thank you for your reply... I will have to check the size of the Bichon's teeth Lily plays with against hers and see if I see a difference. That is very interesting....:)

I would say size as well as a guess.... I have a Poodle Mix who weighs about 60lbs and my 14lb terrier has teeth that are bigger than Fosters!! When you pull the lips up on my dogs people are always shocked at the size of their teeth!

yes large teeth

My friend and I both have cairns under 1 year old. Shocked at how large their teeth are. Almost look too big for them. Since they were bred to hunt prey, maybe their teeth evolved to be larger than other small dogs.
