Since my KC was house trained when I brought Niko home it was very easy to teach Niko to go potty outside. He caught on really quick, was only a few days before he was at the door needing to go out.

He's very cute! Watch out though, it's true that the first dog often trains the second one, but if Boone has bad manners, the new puppy is likely to pick them up too. It's doable, but training two puppies at the same time can be really hard. Does Boone knows sit/stay/off/wait etc yet? I personally think it's better to wait until the first dog is housetrained and knows how to sit, stay, come and wait at least before getting a second one, it makes things sooooo much easier, especially if you don't have much dog training experience... Just my opinion though.

Otherwise, my golden was always pretty laid back, he's 15 months now and he's pretty much settled down, but again he was never puppy-crazy except when my husband was coming home from work.

He's very cute, but I do think you're crazy!! :D  :D
I was going to add a 2nd dog when Dante was a year old, then 2 and now I'm thinking when he's 3.
Of course, I am single and that makes a difference. I just don't have the strength to work with 2 puppies and work a full time job.

But, dang he's cute!!!!!

I would go for it. If you are ready for the challenge of another dog and if the pusps get along. Being that close in age, I think it would be perfect and the'll grow up being great buddies.

Yes Boone is well trained. He's potty trained, knows wait, sit, lay down, stay, off, and a few tricks...shake a paw, crawl, sit pretty.
But it wasn't meant to be (not yet at least). Little Toby has a waiting list. They did tell us, however, that alot of the referneces for the other people weren't checking out, so to not give up hope.
They are really glad we have another young pup for him to play with and keep him company. He's a total sweetheart, and I've fallen head over heels (pun intended) in love.
It's pretty upsetting thinking you are adopting a kid, and may have to watch somebody else bring him home.
Fingers, toes, everything crossed!

*Also I have a little rant. The shelter wants $400 for him, which we are totally willing to pay, but I think it's a little crazy. All the other dogs, even puppies are priced at 199-299. He's $399! I mean I think he's worth every penny...but it upsets me a little. It's not really encouraging people to adopt from a shelter when you can go to a breeder and pay that kinda price for a dog with his papers, health tested parents, and being able to meet the parents and so on. End rant* We'll pay whatever they want if we can take him home.

Oh Tina he is a doll. I think with both of them being so young you should not have a problem. Boone just might make you feel neglected as he will want to spend his time with his new partner.

Yes, we would go meet the little guy, fill the adoption sheets and then go get Boone for an introduction and see how they got on.
Anybody else had two male pups at the same time who has advice? a yay or a nay?
I said this on here before somwhere. But I had two male dogs that lived together for 12 years. A chow mix, and a dane mix. chow came first and when he was six months old we got dane mix. We did neuter them both at about 6 months old, and I think that prevented most problems. I always will have more than one dog......I guess you just get hooked.:D

Oh if Boone is well trained definitely get another pup :D But wow, $399, I think it's crazy for a shelter, how are they justifying that price? I really dislike the mentality of 'lots of people want him, let's increase the price' from a shelter personally.
