I just got finished with my daughter's open house invitations, I don't have writer's cramp, and I didn't have to spend a butt load of $ to have a print shop do it for me either :D

Kevin was helping me stuff them into the envelopes, I got cute little star stickers to go on them and he made a comment about having to stick them on, LOL.........that got me saying that it was STILL far less work than hand writing in the date, time, and place like the old days, to which he agreed and stuck the stars on without further complaints :rofl1:

I am thankful for my printer on every birthday, picnic, and other invitations I have to prepare!

What technology do you REALLY love and appreciate? I mean, things that you enjoy and enhance your life with that your parents didn't have when you were younger?

Computers, dvd player/burner, mp3, color/lcd/plasma tv, digital camera, gps, printer/scanner/fax. I love gadgets and love to learn. When my parents gave me a transister radio as a teenager, I was in heaven. It's mind boggling what is available now and I thoroughly enjoy it.

air conditioner, light, running water, and of course TOILETS! :lol-sign:
:rofl1:

I'd say the biggest one I'm grateful for is the microwave. We didn't have one until I was in my early 20's. I went to go work for a woman in PA and I lived with her...she had a microwave and when I came home, I told my mom she HAD to get one.

Well, there's electric lights... Oh, and DOORS! Great little invention, that. Keeps out cave bears and such.

We got a microwave when I was about 13. It was a HUGE Sharp Carousel, one of the first with the TURNING plate, LOL, my mom was so proud of that monster, LOL

We had a VCR as well, though we did skip the Beta (if you youngin's don't know what Beta is, google it! haha)

When I was about 14-ish we also got a Commodore 64 computer! ROFL, a whopping 8 BIT! :rofl1: Wasn't really good for much but playing some games on, no internet for the common joe back then, LOL We also had a Pong when I was very young, an Atari after that, then a Nintendo NES when I was about 14-15 which I still own and my kids play to this very day.........they don't build them like that any more!

We didn't have loads of money, we were actually pretty poor, but my dad also loved gadgets, was able to fix cars (shade tree mechanic) and got paid often with these gadgets from younger guys that needed their WHEELS more than the toys their parents bought them! My siblings and I benefited from this a great deal!

I try to keep up with technology even though I hate it and feel like it is going to be our demise. It seems to me like there is a positive and negative side to every technological advancement. Technology allows over population and a soft population at that. Just look that the problems that have come up since the invention of the wheel or fire. I figure that since I cant do anything to stop it, I should take advantage of it. I enjoyed watching Avatar on blue ray today for sure=)

I agree with you on that one Buck.........I think technology is definitely the bane and blessing of our existence and has been since the dawn of man. Every time something is discovered or invented to make our life easier, we DO get softer.

Some technology I am just not interested in and find it useless to me personally. I don't want or need a camera, mp3, gps, and God knows what else on my cell phone. I use my cell to make and receive calls and that's enough for me. I'm not interested in texting either........just not my thing. It's a phone, I'll talk into it kthx.

I don't care about DVR (most of my friends thinks I'm nuts) but if I miss a show, I don't care, my life will go on and I'll be just fine, LOL There's lots of other things I just don't want or need and won't ever spend a dime on. We have LOTS of gadgets and technology in this house mostly because of Kevin. If it's here, I learn to use it whether I like it or not though, hahaha.......I'm just too nosy NOT to!

Not only did we have a Beta, I still have it, AND it still plays and records. The thing has outlasted many a VCR and DVD player. Every once in a while I plug the old thing in and watch a bit of Alf.

GPS is next to come for me. I definitely want it for the drive to Kentucky. But for now, Mapquest is a lifesaver.

Microwaves, answering machines, portable music (I distinctly remember getting my first WalkMan), and AC in cars (another thing I was old enough to remember - my mother explaining air conditioning to me, and me saying "that's stupid, just roll down the window").

My favorite technology is Google! I really don't know what I'd do without it. I can't even count how many times Google has been a life saver for me.

my number one thing is stamps.com... I dont' know if that's technology or not or if it counts but I can just shove a bunch of envelopes in the printer and type in the addresses and it prints the address, return address and the stamp so I can just go put them in my mailbox for pick up :) same with my etsy packages.

Another is the CD player in the car. remember having to fast forward through songs and stop 20 times to make sure you didn't miss the song you wanted to hear lol.

GPS... it's my saviour. I need it to get anywhere outside of my little bubble of usual places lol. I am SO directionaly challenged. If I didn't have it I would be screwed

GPS!!! I don't know what I'd do without it. <3 As I was driving to Detroit yesterday that's all I kept saying how thankful I was for it. For crazy stressful city driving in a place you've never gone before, I wouldn't want anything else.

The internet. Seriously, I had so many questions that no one knew the answers to. I might have been able to find them if I'd lived in the Library of Congress, but I'd have needed several lifetimes.

I also would not have Kharma or Tallulah (indirectly) without the internet :)

The internet, MP3 players, GPS and the iPhone. I'm surgically attached to those things almost.

GPS. Without it, I'd still be roaming around Houston from my first solo trip there about 8 years ago.
