I started my first class with my two friends tonight and boy was it a work out. But it was really fun to beat up the mats and stuff. Has anyone else ever taken any Self Defense?

I'm a 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do... I'm also a kickboxer, not officially anymore because of a lack of funds though.

I'm also trying to find out about some Brazillian Jiu Jitsu classes.

Personally, I believe Muay Thai, Boxing/kickboxing, and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu are the only martial arts that will make you a good fighter and give you enough technique and ability to defend yourself well.

Please accept my apologies if I have ever said anything to offend you master. :)

I'm just active and I love working out in my house...

I do 20 push ups, 30 sit ups and 100 jumping jacks daily. Or almost daily. I used to take tae kwon do but that doesnt really help THAT much, only if the place teaches you how to punch as well as kick.

Besides. I'm scary enough. It love bellowing at people and being loud and obnoxious and cantankerous. : ) Its my hobby.

-Even though I'm a GURL!!!- -cackles evilly-

I took Brazillian Jiu Jitsu last spring for a PE credit. I have an orange belt....oooo...lol I would have loved to have kept taking it, unfortunately it is exteremely expensive. I think they should have a discount for women to take self defense classes. I think it would be great if all women could know some kinds of self defense. Especially something like Jiu Jitsu, cuz it is something even me 5'2 and 110 lbs can do. The guys in the class that I was partners with were surprised I could do some of the stuff.

I've got a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, but it's been a few years. Also dabbled in judo, hapkido and cali. I prefer fencing now (sabre and epee).

My best friend used to go to karate, but there was a Aikido teacher there that used to come in and watch his son, well he taught alot to me while we were there each time, I learned quite a bit. Besides that we just lived in a couple rough places where you had to fend for yourself alot.

I''ve never taken any formal classes but I do grapple with some friends often (mostly guys but sometimes another girl will join in here and there). It''s all in good fun and though it isn''t rare to come out with bruises and burns if we''re on a carpet, it''s all in good fun and don''t mean a thing. I''ve also done years of stage fighting so that has taught me some stuff, all I gotta do is move about 1 inch closer to the person in order for it to become effective LOL

I am like Homer Simpson, I can take a good beating and eventually the attacker usually tires them self out and I just push them over for the win.
