Swollen Penis??

Hey guys and gals,

I have a weird question. My dog humps his doll and whatever. When he's done the tip of his penis doesn't retract fully into the skin even after an hour has passed. I looked at the tip of his penis and it looks a bit swollen. I believe that it only looks swollen after he's humped but otherwise it looks normal. I'll have to double check on that but is this something that I should take him to a vet for? Thanx

Is it swollen looking immediately or after the hour? The penis will dry out and become 'stuck' and that will cause it to swell and compound the problem. It should never be left outside the sheath for more than 10 minutes tops. Usually a spritz of cold water will help it to retract, if that doesn't help, then put a little bit of water-based lubrication gel (like KY) on the base of the lipstick.

We've had a couple of dogs at work get stuck out after humping, most memorably last week with a Wheaten. His was allll the way out too, I couldn't help but laugh.
