Kimber was on kirkland roughly a month and a half ago. I switched her over to full Evo in about 3-4 days. (I think i made the switch way too fast)
Her poop was soft serve so I purchased Canidae and switched her onto that and her stool is a bit better, but i think that has to do with treating her for giardia.

I've got a quarter bag left of canidae and want to try and switch her over back to EVO Red Meat this time. Should i wait and get another small bag of canidae and switch after or should it be ok to try and switch back to Evo.

She seems to have no problems with canidae, she usually eats it all up most of the time. I'm pretty sure she wasnt eating much of the Evo due to giardia and thats why i want to try and switch her back.
She wasnt on Evo very long but she gained a lot of muscle in her legs while on it. Now that she's on a lower protein diet, she's seems to be losing that muscle mass and her coat isnt as great. maybe i'm imagining things.

Giardia does cause diarrhea. It's aweful to have. We had it here one winter - had to treat every dog on the property, and with my husband's Pyr's (both altered) and my duaghter's Aussie, plus my Belgians, that was a lot of medication, and then a lot of baths. Giardia is shed in the stools and spoors can hold onto the coat and reinfect the dog, so dogs treated for giardia must be bathed about five days into treatment. Okay, I can bathe the Belgians and the Aussie in the house, but the Pyr's???? Oh boy. My vet very generously offered me his calf barn at the clinic to bathe the Pyr's, so off we went for baths and blow drys. I think I was there for almost four hours trying to get the Pyr's dry enough to come home.

When switching to a food as rich as Evo, chances are there will be a change in stool. Softer at first, then, if Evo is right for your dog, the stools will get very hard, very small, and will turn white in about 24 hours. This is a good thing, as it means the dog is making the most of the food and very little is being wasted (not digested/pooped out). If Evo is too rich for your dog, the stool will likely remain loose. Also, dogs eat less of the Evo, because it is such a dense, rich food. When switching from something like Kirkland to the Evo, food intake can be reduced by almost 1/2, sometimes even more than half, depending upon the dog.

I'm not a big believe in slow switches of dog foods. If I switch a brand, I just switch the brand (okay, for all but 1 - 1 girl does have a more sensitive tummy). But since she recently had giardia and her intestines and bowel might still be sensitive to changes, I would keep her on the Canidae a little longer, then switch her back to the Evo, and slowly - take about a week to make the switch.
